Despite Joe trying his best he had fallen asleep on the couch during Evie's operation. He tried to keep his mind busy but it hadn't helped, he was too tired. Evie was in her operation for forty three minutes before she was finished and put in recovery waiting for her to wake up from the local anaesthetic to see what her condition was like. Only then was she wheeled through into the room Joe had been waiting in which had woke him up.
"How is she?" Joe questioned as he made his way to the bed seeing his month old daughter awake but whining, he bet she felt groggy and horrible. She was just in her diaper but had a IV line into her hand which would give her fluids for the next six hours until she could be fed by Demi who would be by soon. Joe leaned down kissing her head gently letting her wrap her fist around his finger, he felt sorry for his daughter. He knew how much operations sucked.
"There weren't any complications so everything went well, a nurse will be by every half an hour for the first couple of hours just to make sure she stays well and she will have a feed at five." Joe nodded his head gently thanking him as he left to do his rounds. Joe dropped down on his knees next to his daughter admiring her as she settled down looking around at her surroundings.
"Hopefully that's it princess and you won't be here for a while, you can come home with mommy, daddy and your brother and sister. We all love you lots and don't like to see you like this," Joe laughed as her eyes shut. "Daddy is that boring huh."
"Elliot dinner time!" Demi called laughing to herself, she had a nap for a couple of hours until she was woken up by her babies needing a diaper change. Denise had left when Demi reassured her that she was okay. Dianna would be coming over with Eddie to babysit while Demi went to the hospital to be with Joe and her oldest daughter. "I know mommy is being silly." Demi kissed Elliot's head before he started to feed from her hearing her parents arriving covering herself up with a blanket as they entered the living room being quiet when they saw Elliot was feeding.
Demi made sure both Elsie and Elliot were okay and settled before she left heading back to the hospital. She had demanded that Joe goes home and get some sleep while her parents were there to take care of their daughter and son but he refused wanting to spend some time with his daughter while she was ill and Demi now she had some rest.
"How is she?" Demi questioned stroking her daughter's cheek gently smiling as Joe wrapped his arms around her from the back Demi leaning against him gently as his chin rested on her shoulder.
"She was a little grouchy when she came out but she fell to sleep pretty much straight away." Joe answered kissing her neck once as it was all he could get to.
"But the operation went well?" Demi questioned again.
"Yep, she should be alright to go home tomorrow," He answered. "I'll stay overnight with her, you need to be with Elliot. He's relaying on your breast."Demi giggled laying her hand on his as he squeezed her slightly.
"Are you sure you'll be okay with her?"
"Yeah we'll be fine, she can have formula and Elliot can't. Hopefully after tonight we won't have to spend any more time in the hospital."
"That sounds nice." Demi admitted as he pulled away from her Demi leaning up kissing him gently Joe kissing back before they pulled away from each other. They both missed having their three children with them at the same time, they hoped that they missed each other as well. They had shared a home together for eight months and now were with each other a lot of the time. It would only be when they got too big that they would move them to their separate cribs. They would grow up together and didn't have much of a choice but to become best friends.
