Seventeen

Demi put the last box in the back of her parent's car before she shut the trunk. She turned around sighing when she saw the house she grew up in. She found it amazing how quickly she had seemed to grow up but she was ready for a new adventure, something new in her life. She smiled as her mother gave her a hug soon hugging her back.

"I'm so proud of you doing this Demi." Dianna praised kissing her hair before they pulled away from one another Demi having a smile on her face.

"Thanks mom, for everything."

"It's been a pleasure to raise a girl like you, I know when I look at you we did do something right." Demi grinned kissing her mother's cheek before looking down the street seeing the Jonas family from a distance heading down the street.

"I don't know if I can say goodbye to Joe mom." Demi mumble running her fingers through her hair but Dianna grabbed her hand forcing them both out of her hair.

"I know it will be hard but I'm sure you'll both stay in touch, this is what you've wanted to do. Don't let a boy that has no clue stopping you from doing this." Dianna demanded softly Demi nodding her head but took in a deep breath. Demi became confused when she didn't see Joe making his way down the street with his family.

"Where's Joe?" Demi questioned as the five of them approached them all of them beginning to share hugs but the one person she did want a hug from wasn't here and she had no idea why. He was her best friend, he should keep his promises.

"Still at Emily's house, he slept over and isn't answering his phone." Denise spoke through a sigh as she pulled away from the girl she saw as her daughter.

"He'll make it Demi, don't worry. He wouldn't miss seeing you off." Kevin assured her.

Joe woke up hearing the sound of his alarm clock buzzing in his ear, he let a groan escape his mouth as he grabbed his phone switching the alarm off laying his head back down on the pillow his arm saying around Emily who too had just been woken up by the alarm and Joe's movement. Emily moved his arm from her sitting up in her bed.

"Joe you have to go if you want to see Demi off." Emily urged.

"I have plenty of time." Joe mumbled but Emily's eyes widened when she looked at the clock seeing it was twenty five past six already.

"Joe is twenty five past! Demi leaves in five minutes!" Emily exclaimed Joe hurrying out of the bed slipping his shirt over his torso being quick to put his socks and shoes back on.

"I set the alarm for six!" He panicked.

"We must have slept through the alarm hurry!" Emily demanded.

"How can someone sleep through an alarm, that defeats the object of having an alarm!" Joe screamed through his panic as he got his shoe on. He was gone before Emily could say anything else.

Joe ran through the streets as quickly as he could keeping his phone to his ear but everytime he called Demi's phone it went straight to voicemail. He gave up putting his phone in his pocket speeding impossibly faster until he reached his own street knowing Demi's house was just a couple of doors down. He passed his own house stopping at Demi's house his world crashing around him when he saw that Demi's parents car was gone. He knocked on the door frantically hoping that someone would answer. Nobody did.

Both Dianna and Eddie were with Demi in their car driving Demi down to Texas.

She was already gone.
