The weeks have passed by and soon Demi was ten weeks along, enough for them to take a test to see who the father of her baby was. She wanted to know already. Joe had been distant for the weeks and Demi wanted him back, she knew how much she had hurt him and wanted to make it up to him. The only way she knew how was to have the test done and for it to come back as his baby, she prayed that it was. She had spent some time with Wilmer again but he was flirting with her still even though she had told him not to, she just wanted to get to know him some more in case that she was the father of her baby. She was still sure that Joe was the man she should be with.
"Morning," Joe mumbled as he entered the kitchen but smile when Elliot jumped into his arms. "Hey buddy." Joe kissed his curls.
"Mommy says your sad? Why?" Joe smiled holding him against his hip, they were four now, they didn't know about their little brother or sister yet but as soon as Demi was twelve weeks they were going to tell them so they weren't going to be given any false hope.
"I'm okay little man." Joe kissed his head again setting him down on the floor.
"Are you ready for this appointment? My mom will be here any minute." Demi sated Joe nodded his head gently running a comb through his hair.
"I just need to get my shoes on," He replied taking a apple from the fruit bowl beginning to eat it. "Where are the girls?"
"Playing dollies in our room." Elliot mumbled making Joe chuckle. They knew they'd have this problem as they got older when the girls would get into girly things and Elliot wouldn't. They hoped he would make friends when at kindergarten that he could play with, Josh came over sometimes after kindergarten to play with Elliot. Soon he might have a little brother he can play with. Demi knew already he would want a brother.
Demi followed Joe into the hospital where they met up with Wilmer, they signed in before they took a seat Demi sat in the middle. She could feel how tense they both were determined that they were the father and not the other, she just wanted to get the test done with so she could continue her life. They were called through into a office where they would be told what was going to happen.
"Obviously the role will be played mostly by Demi, we will collect saliva from both Joe and Wilmer but I'm sorry Demi but it's not so easy for you." Doctor James spoke sympathy in his tone, Joe looked down at Demi confused.
"I know I've read about it." Demi mumbled.
"Demi what happens?" Joe questioned nervous about what Demi would have to go through to have this test done. They had already signed the papers so there was no going back.
"We will need to get samples from the baby, that involves fluid from the womb and tissue from the placenta. Both involve a needle through the abdomen." He explained.
"Demi you don't have to do this." Joe urged.
"I do Joe, we need to know so everything can go back to normal." Demi answered.
"If I'm the father there's no way anything is going back to normal." Wilmer mumbled Demi sighing as she took Joe's hand.
"I'm okay to do this, if it means getting my best friend back." Joe sighed nodding his head but kept his hand in hers for comfort. Doctor James continued the talk to explain everything that would be happening but Joe still didn't like the idea of what was going on to find out who the father of her child is when they could find out when the baby was born but the procedure started. Joe and Wilmer gave their sample before Demi was taken away for hers. Joe went after her wanting to be with her while she went for the test, he couldn't imagine having a needle pushed through his stomach and didn't want her to do it alone. The three of them were soon sat in a hospital room Demi laid on the bed while they awaited the results of the test.
