Joe didn't want to disappoint them but she needed time away from home. To think things over. She kneeling down on the floor where they were playing crossing her legs.
"Where's daddy?" Elsie questioned.
"Daddy has to go into work today, he says sorry but he'll be home for dinner." Demi explained sighing when their smiles dropped.
"Us not going to the zoo?" Demi shook her head gently but cracked a small smile when he came over sitting on her lap. She kissed his hair gently as her arms wrapped around the three year old closing together at the front.
"But we'll go to the park if you want? That will be fun right?"
"But daddy won't be there." Evie mumbled. Joe had left to go to work and left Demi alone with the kids to tell them that he wouldn't be spending the day with them, Demi was the one who now had to put up with the children's sad faces. She wanted to tell him what was going on but she didn't want to lose him and she didn't think that she had any chance of him staying in her life. He was her best friend and always had been.
"I thought you were going to go to the zoo or something with Joe?" Willa questioned as she approached her with Colton by her side Josh holding onto his hand as they walked but he let go of his son's hand once he had seen his best friends on the climbing frame running over to them. Colton and Willa sat down with her on the bench.
"We were but Joe got called into work." Demi mumbled crossing her arms over her chest. The only thing that was stopping her from breaking down was seeing her three children playing together with Josh who was only a year older than they were.
"What's going on with you guys? Joe text me last night asking if I knew anything was going on." Colton questioned Demi just sighed.
"I can't tell Joe." She mumbled letting the tears run down her cheeks.
"What can't you tell him? You've been best friends for so long, surely you can tell him anything." Willa stated but Demi shook her head burying her head in her hands not wanting her children to see her upset, she felt Willa rub her back gently for comfort but it didn't make her feel better. The guilt was eating her alive.
"I-I cheated on him." She revealed.
As Joe promised he was home for dinner that night. He didn't want to disappoint his children too much. He'd have to make it up for them somehow and he had started by bring home some left over cake, they tried to feed them as healthily as they could. Joe being a chef knew how important that was but a treat every so often was okay. He got out his car bringing his bag from the passenger seat with him. He made his way up to the house confused when he saw his bags on the porch. He tried the door but it was locked, he knocked but he got no reply. He answered his phone when saw that Demi was phoning him.
"Demi what's going on?" Joe questioned.
"I'm breaking up with you, I want you out my house." Demi stated.
"Wait what Demi? This is my house! I let you move in before the kids were born!" Joe exclaimed trying to look through the windows to see if he could see her or any of the kids. He didn't understand what was happening.
"Goodbye Joe." Joe groaned when the other line went dead. He wished Demi would just open up so he knew what he could do to get the woman back he loved.
