Joe shushed Elsie as she cried against his chest, it was clear both Elsie and Elliot knew something was wrong with their sister and wouldn't settle down to sleep. Everytime Evie was fed she'd bring it back up and it had only gotten worse over the past couple of days. He sighed when Elliot started crying too, he had barely gotten any sleep last night and now something was wrong with his eldest daughter. He couldn't help but worry.

It was about seven when Joe rung his mother knowing that she was a early riser and would come look after Elsie and Elliot, luckily Demi hadn't pumped milk long ago so Elliot was able to feed but they did have some of his formula in just in case something was going to go wrong with Demi's breast milk. Demi would have to come back to pump some more or just be with the two of them while Joe stayed with Evie. She was only a month old. Joe entered the hospital wrapping his arms around Demi as she wrapped hers around him.

"How is she?" Joe questioned kissing her hair gently.

"They're running tests but she's asleep now." Demi answered looking up at him cracking a small smile when he kissed her then pulling away.

"She'll be okay." Joe assured her bringing her down on the couch wrapping his arm around her kissing the side of her head as she settled down in his arm.

"I hope so, I've had enough of hospitals," Demi grumbled. "How are Elsie and Elliot?" She questioned as she looked up at her boyfriend.

"I think they know their sister is ill, they wouldn't settle until they got too tired and fell to sleep from exhaustion." Joe answered.

"Bless them." Demi mumbled, it was clear that she was tired and wanted to go to sleep. He was himself but he needed to know how his daughter was before he thought about going to sleep. Joe kissed the side of her head whispering in her ear.

"Go to sleep." He demanded softly Demi cracking a small smile as she slowly fell asleep against him Joe stroking her hair gently as she did. They were both worried about Evie but they still had two little ones at home to think about, they both didn't need to be here with Evie all the time but as soon as they know what is going on then Joe would stay with her while Demi went home and got some rest. It shouldn't affect them too much if it wasn't anything serious.

Demi was asleep for about an hour before she was woken up by Joe knowing that she would want to hear about what's going on with Evie, she was still half asleep but awake enough to know what was wrong with their daughter. Demi thanked Joe as he entered the room with a coffee, she could only have one a day but she wanted it now. They both smiled as Evie was carried in by a nurse Joe taking her from her since Demi had a coffee.

"Hey baby girl." Demi breathed leaning over kissing her head gently, she was asleep which they were thankful for. If she was in a lot of pain she wouldn't be able to sleep. They didn't like the idea of their daughter being in pain.

"What's wrong with her?" Joe inquired looking up from his eldest daughter.

"Evie has Pyloric stenosis, it's not uncommon. The passage between the stomach and small bowel becomes narrower. It is thicker than normal closing up the inside of the passage, it stops milk passing through to be digested which is why she brings it back up because it has nowhere else to go." The doctor explained to the parents.

"Is it treatable?" Demi questioned.

"Yes it is through a small operation, she is booked for it as soon as possible." He replied as Joe and Demi turned to each other. Evie was only a month old and she was already going through an operation.
