Chapter 39
*Meredith POV*

Zola turns around to see what all is going on and she runs up says, "Grandma!" Because the woman at my door is Derek's mother, Carolyn Shepherd. We have no idea why she's visiting. But it's nice to see her, it's been a while.

"So uh, Mom. What brings you to Seattle?" Derek asks.

"Well, I haven't seen my son in years and my new granddaughter! Also, I heard Amelia is engaged to that Major Hunt." She says.

I walk over to where Ellis is and I pick her up and bring her to Derek's mom.

"Oh my God, she's beautiful!" She says.

We all sit down on the couch. "So um...we ordered a pizza. And it should be here any minute now." I tell her.

"Oh great." She responds with a smile.

I hear another knock at the door and it's finally the pizza. I'm starving.

We all eat pizza and have a little reunion. Then Amelia walks in and she's pretty shocked to see her mom.

"Oh...wow. Hi mom," she says shockingly.

"Amy!" She says as she goes and gives Amelia a hug.

"W-what brings you too Seattle?" Amelia asks her.

"Nancy told me you're getting married!" She says.

"The only people I told were Addison and Lizzie...how'd Nancy find out?" Amelia ask curiously.

"Well, Lizzie told Kathleen, Kathleen told Nancy, Nancy told me! I didn't come here just to see you're wedding Amy, I also came to meet my grandchildren!" Carolyn says.

"Super" Amelia says. "The others, they didn't say anything about coming to Seattle...did they?" Amelia asks scared that the answer is yes.

"Oh well, they're all very busy. But you know, I can always get them on a plane to Seattle." Carolyn tells us all.

Almost simultaneously we all say "No, no, no."

Owen walks through the door, "Oh hi...uh Mrs. Shepherd."

"So nice to see you again Major Hunt." She says.

"Oh uh, you can call me Owen" he says.

For the rest of the night we all just make small talk trying to avoid an awkward silence. Amelia goes with Owen and Derek's mom goes to her hotel. She's going to be back in the morning and tomorrow she's babysitting the kids.

Derek and I go to bed but before we go to sleep I ask him, "You don't think all your sisters are going to come to Seattle? Do you?"

"Oh God I hope not." Derek says.

I wake up to the smell of food. "Your mom is cooking food. She's a saint." I laugh.

Derek and I go to work together and say goodbye to the kids. "So how long do you think she's staying?" Derek asks me.

"How would I know? I mean I don't even know when the wedding is." I tell him.

"Relax Derek, she's just visiting." I add.

We get into the hospital and we both have a surgery together for a trauma.

We get into the OR and he's wearing the ferry boat scrub cap I got him for Christmas, the one that has McDreamy on the side of a ferry boat.

Our patient fell and hit their head. She has an epidural hematoma and a large aortic aneurysm. Maggie is helping me with the aneurysm because I didn't want a resident.

"So Derek, I hear your mother is in town!" Maggie says cheerfully.

"Yes, she's visiting for a few days. Because Mer and I had a new baby and Amelia is getting married." He says.

"I'd love to meet her," Maggie says.

"We should have a party Derek. Or a get together. Engagement party for your sister and Owen. I mean, last time your mother was in Seattle, you and I weren't even engaged yet." I tell Derek.

I can tell Derek is smiling even with his mask on. "Okay. I'll call her when we get out of here and tell her we're having a get together."

"Do you think she cleans?" I ask laughing a little.

"I hope so. When we left this morning it was like a toy store threw up." Derek laughs.

"So Derek are any other of your family coming into Seattle?" Maggie asks.

"I hope not." He says, "I love all of them it's just, they always want to know everything of what's going on and there's so many of them. And there's fights and everything." He adds.

*Zola POV*

Grandma is making Bailey and I lunch. One time we went to New York and I met her but this is the second time I've ever seen her.

I like her. She's nice. Her cell phone rings and she answers it. "Hello, oh hi Kathleen how are you?" She says. She's talking to Aunt Kathleen.

"You're coming to Seattle. What?! And Lizzie and Nancy? Oh boy. Well have you talked to Derek or Meredith?" She says.

When she gets off the phone she says, "Guess what Zola, all your aunts are going to be here in like 6 hours oh and another friend of your Aunt Amy's."

"I have a lot of aunts and uncles. There's Aunt Amelia and the rest of Daddy's sisters, Aunt Cristina, Aunt Maggie, Uncle Alex, there used to be Uncle Mark and Aunt Lexie but they died." I say.

*Meredith POV*

After surgery Derek calls his mom.

"What?! All of them? What did you do!" He says into the phone.

He gets off the phone. "They're all coming. Oh my God."

"All of them? Like all your sisters and your sisters husbands and nieces and nephews." I ask horrified.

"As far as I know just the sisters." He says.

I sigh in relief. "Why are they coming?"

"Because they want to meet our kids again and the wedding." He says.

"We don't even know when the wedding is!" I say.

Amelia walks in, "When's the wedding?" Derek asks anxiously.

"Uh I'm not sure yet. We were thinking of just doing a small ceremony here at the hospital chapel like next week. I ordered a dress last week, remember Mer?" She says. They've been engaged for 3 weeks, longer than Owen and Cristina were.

"Yep. It should be coming in like tomorrow."

We get home later, everyone that is coming to the get together thing we're having basically followed us home. Derek's mother got everything set up.

Everyone who hasn't met Derek's mom like Maggie, Jackson and April, are introducing themselves.

"Hi I'm Maggie Pierce, Meredith's half sister." Maggie says.

"Very nice to meet you, Maggie." Carolyn says.

I hear a knock at the front door. Zola answers it. It's Derek's other sisters and wow...Addison.

"Mommy, we have more visitors." Zola yells.

Umm...well...I hope y'all like this chapter. I just started making stuff up as I went along. Hypothetically speaking, would you all enjoy seeing world war 3 at Meredith and Derek's house with his sisters? Or would you like to see happy family times?
