The tears wouldn’t stop.

Raven’s tiny feet pounded against the forest floor as she ran, her breath coming in sharp gasps. She didn’t know where she was going—she just wanted to get away.

Away from the words she never thought she’d hear.

"Even if she was a mistake."

Her father’s voice echoed in her head, and with every step, her little heart ached more.

She didn’t even realize how deep into the Forbidden Forest she had gone until she stopped, her small chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath.

It was dark. Too dark.

The trees towered over her like twisted shadows, the moon barely peeking through the dense branches. Everything was silent—except for the occasional rustle of leaves.

Raven shivered, hugging her arms around herself.

She wanted her mummy.

She wanted her daddy.

But… did he even want her?

Her small hands trembled as she wiped at her tears, her tiny sobs echoing in the empty woods. “I’m not a mistake,” she whispered to herself. “I’m not…”

Then, a branch snapped nearby.

Raven’s head shot up, her little heart hammering.

The air suddenly felt colder, and a strange, low growl rumbled in the distance.

Raven froze, her small fingers tightening around the fabric of her dress.

The shadows shifted.

A pair of glowing yellow eyes peered at her from the darkness.

Her breath caught in her throat.

Something big moved just beyond the trees, its massive form lurking in the darkness, the faint glint of sharp teeth visible as it let out a deep, guttural snarl.

Raven took a step back, her little legs shaking.

And then—

It lunged.

She screamed.
