Summary: Lola and Mattheo have a talk with Raven about having a boyfriend and then it got really uncomfortable because Lola started talking about she was 16 and pregnant with Raven.
Raven sat stiffly on the couch, her hands clutched in her lap as her parents stared at her. This was it. The dreaded talk.
Mattheo was already rubbing his temples like he had a headache. “So, a boyfriend, huh?”
Raven forced a smile. “Um… yeah?”
Lola raised an eyebrow. “And you weren’t going to tell us?”
“Well, I was going to! Eventually,” Raven quickly added when she saw her father’s unimpressed look.
Mattheo sighed, crossing his arms. “Albus Potter. Out of all people.”
Raven groaned. “Dad, not this again—”
Lola put a hand on Mattheo’s arm before turning to Raven. “Look, we just want to make sure you’re being smart about this.”
Raven narrowed her eyes. “I am smart.”
Lola gave her a pointed look. “Okay, but are you ‘smart’ smart or ‘I think I’m smart but actually making bad decisions’ smart?”
Raven scowled. “Mum.”
Mattheo exhaled sharply. “We just don’t want you rushing into anything, okay?”
Raven folded her arms. “I literally just started dating him. What do you think is gonna happen?”
That’s when Lola, without any hesitation, said, “Well, I was sixteen when I got pregnant with you.”
Raven froze.
Mattheo groaned. “Lola—”
Lola ignored him, looking directly at Raven. “I’m just saying, things happen fast.”
Raven’s entire soul left her body. “Mum, please stop talking.”
But no, Lola was on a roll now.
“I mean, your dad and I were young, we thought we had time, and bam—”
“OH MY MERLIN,” Raven yelled, covering her ears. “PLEASE STOP.”
Mattheo looked equally horrified. “Lola, I don’t think she needs to know—”
“Oh, she needs to know,” Lola cut in. “One second you’re holding hands, the next second you’re late for your period and your entire life is changing.”
Raven gagged. “I—MUM! I’M GONNA DIE. STOP.”
Lola shrugged. “Just making sure you really understand.”
Mattheo shook his head, clearly scarred for life. “Raven, I swear to Merlin, if I ever get a letter saying you and Albus—”
“You won’t!” Raven practically screamed.
Lola smirked. “Good. Then we don’t have to have this talk again.”
Raven bolted off the couch. “Never. Ever. Again.”
Mattheo ran a hand over his face, muttering, “Worst conversation of my life.”
Lola grinned. “I think that went well.”
