Summary: Bellatrix did something with Raven.
Lola’s breath caught in her throat.
The trees around them felt too silent, the shadows shifting in a way that made her blood run cold.
Then—
A sharp, high-pitched giggle echoed through the woods.
Not Raven’s.
Lola’s entire body went rigid.
Mattheo cursed under his breath, stepping closer to her. “Tell me that’s not—”
A figure stepped from the shadows.
Bellatrix Lestrange.
Lola’s stomach twisted in horror as she saw her aunt’s deranged grin, her wild black hair framing her sharp, gleeful features.
And in her grasp—
Was Raven.
The nine-year-old looked dazed, her normally bright eyes glassy, her body too still. Bellatrix had one hand on Raven’s shoulder, her wand lazily pointed at the girl’s temple.
“Ah, the doting mother has finally arrived,” Bellatrix cooed, tilting her head. “Did you miss your precious little one?”
Lola’s grip on her wand tightened so hard it hurt.
“Let. Her. Go.”
Bellatrix let out a laugh, twirling her wand between her fingers. “Oh, but we’ve been having so much fun,” she purred. “Haven’t we, little Raven?”
Raven didn’t respond.
Lola’s chest constricted. “What did you do to her?”
Bellatrix hummed, tapping her wand lightly against Raven’s head. “Just a little… persuasion.” She leaned in, whispering against Raven’s ear. “Isn’t that right, darling?”
Raven blinked—slowly—and then, to Lola’s horror, a small, eerie smile curled on her lips.
Mattheo swore violently, stepping forward. “What the hell did you do to her?”
Bellatrix’s grin widened. “Just gave her a little reeducation,” she said sweetly. “A new perspective.”
Lola’s heart pounded violently as Raven took a step forward, her small hands clenched at her sides.
And then—
In a voice too soft, too distant, Raven whispered:
“Mummy… why did you leave me?”
Lola felt her world crack in two.
