Summary: Lola tells her parents and Raven that she is having another baby.
Lola sat in the grand Malfoy Manor dining hall, her fingers drumming nervously on the polished wood of the long table. Across from her, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy sat with their usual composed expressions, while Raven sat beside her, swinging her legs, completely unaware of the tension in the air.
Lola had been preparing for this conversation all day, but now that she was here, facing her parents, it felt a lot more nerve-wracking than she had expected.
Narcissa was the first to notice Lola’s unease. “Darling, you look troubled. What is it?”
Lucius, who had been sipping his tea, set his cup down and raised a single brow. “Has something happened?”
Lola took a deep breath, her hand instinctively resting on her stomach. Now or never.
“I’m pregnant,” she said, her voice steady but cautious.
Silence.
Raven, who had been fidgeting with her napkin, suddenly froze. “Wait—what?”
Lola turned to her daughter, giving her a small smile. “You’re going to be a big sister, Raven.”
For a moment, Raven just stared at her mother, wide-eyed. Then, as the realization hit, her entire face lit up.
“I’M GONNA HAVE A BABY BROTHER OR SISTER?!” she practically yelled, bouncing in her seat.
Lola laughed, nodding. “Yes, sweetheart.”
Raven squealed, jumping out of her chair and wrapping her arms around her mother’s waist. “This is the best day ever!”
Lola smiled warmly, stroking Raven’s hair, but she couldn’t ignore the fact that her parents still hadn’t said a word.
She turned back to Lucius and Narcissa, who were both exchanging unreadable looks.
Narcissa was the first to speak, her voice gentle. “Another child?”
Lola nodded. “Yes.”
Lucius leaned back slightly in his chair, his fingers laced together in front of him. “I assume this was… unexpected?”
Lola hesitated. “Not planned, exactly. But it’s happening, and we’re happy about it.”
Narcissa let out a small sigh, but there was no anger in her expression. Instead, she reached across the table and took Lola’s hand. “Then that’s all that matters.”
Lola blinked in surprise. “So… you’re not upset?”
Narcissa shook her head, a small smile gracing her lips. “Lola, you are an incredible mother to Raven. If you believe you can handle another child, then I trust you.”
Lola exhaled, relief washing over her. “Thank you, Mother.”
Lucius, however, was still watching her carefully. “And Mattheo?”
Lola lifted her chin. “He knows. He’s happy about it.”
Lucius studied her for a long moment before nodding. “Then I suppose we will simply have to prepare for another grandchild.”
Lola let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. That was about as close to approval as she was going to get from her father.
Raven, still bouncing with excitement, grinned up at her mother. “I’m gonna teach the baby all sorts of things! Like how to prank Uncle Draco and how to run really fast and—”
Lola laughed, ruffling her daughter’s hair. “Let’s start with being a good big sister, okay?”
Raven beamed. “Deal!”
As the dinner continued, the tension lifted, and even Lucius seemed to relax. Lola had expected the worst—but instead, she found acceptance, excitement, and love.
And for the first time since finding out she was pregnant, she truly believed that everything was going to be just fine.
