Summary: Raven and Abbi are being chased into the house.
Raven burst through the back doors of Malfoy Manor, holding Abigail tightly against her chest.
Her heart pounded.
She locked the doors behind her and pressed her back against them, trying to catch her breath.
Abigail blinked up at her, wide-eyed. “Waven? Why wunning?”
Raven forced a smile for her little sister. “Just playing a game, love.”
But her stomach twisted. She wasn’t sure if she was trying to convince Abigail or herself.
Something—or someone—had been watching them in the woods.
And it wasn’t the first time.
She knew these woods too well. Too many strange things happened there.
“Raven?”
She looked up to see her mother, Lola, walking into the room, her brows furrowed. “Why do you look like you just ran from a herd of Hippogriffs?”
Raven hesitated. If she told her mom about the whispers, the movement, the feeling of being watched, she’d never be allowed near the woods again.
But…
She also didn’t want to risk Abigail’s safety.
Lola gave her a knowing look. “Spit it out.”
Raven sighed and gently put Abigail down.
“There was something in the woods,” she admitted, glancing out the window. The trees stood still, as if nothing had ever happened.
Lola’s face darkened. “Did you see what it was?”
Raven shook her head. “Just… whispers. And a shadow.”
Lola was silent for a moment. Then she turned and called, “Draco!”
Within seconds, Draco stormed into the room, wand in hand. “What? What happened?”
Lola looked at Raven. “Tell him.”
Raven explained what she had seen—or rather, felt. The whispering, the shadow, the overwhelming sense that something knew she was there.
Draco’s face hardened. He turned to Lola. “It’s happening again.”
Raven’s breath caught. Again?
Lola nodded grimly. “We need to put up more wards.”
Raven stepped forward. “Wait—what do you mean ‘again’? What’s going on?”
Draco and Lola exchanged a glance, silent.
And that silence made Raven more nervous than anything.
They knew something.
And they weren’t telling her.
