Just to clarify you're not dating in this, I don't write stuff like that

"Y/N, what are you doing tonight?" Your friends wee planning on going shopping this evening but you already had plans.

"Sorry, I'll have to reschedule with you, I'm having a daddy daughter night with my dad tonight, maybe tomorrow or next week?" You asked as she sighed slightly but smiled all the same.

"Of course, have a lovely time, what do you have planned with him?" She asked, her and her dad never spent time together with just the two of them so this was all new to her.

"Well, first we order a dominos each with the chicken sides and potato wedges, then we just watch films or play guitar and sing or sometimes we'll go out for dinner and go to the cinema or bowling or something like that. Now that I think about it, my dad's amazing." You smiled.

"Yeah but he's not your dad though is he?" A shrill voice spoke from opposite the table. Chloe.

Sighing and rolling your eyes, you turned to the front to face her. "Well not biologically but-"

"So he's not your real dad, so you don't think your dads amazing, you think your step dads amazing. Like that's possible. And I think that's harsh on your real dad and pretty out of order" she continued. (Actual conversation I overheard today between two year 9 girls)

You didn't know how to react, you just say there, glaring at her. You didn't know if you were going to slap her or burst into tears but before you could do either your best friend stepped in.

"How dare you. You don't know anything about y/n 's home life so why should you belittle her for something you have no idea about. Come on y/n, let's go to lesson." You both stood up an left.

"Actually y/f/n, I'm not really feeling another hour of lessons, well you tell sir that I'm sick and I'll see you later."

"Of course and y/n, please ignore her. She's a cow" she said before rushing off to her lesson.

You began to make your way home, somewhat hoping that the walk would give you some time to calm down but it seemed that would not be the case. By the time you arrived home you were even angrier than you were when the incident first happened.

You opened the door and kicked your shoes off, dumping your bag on the floor and throwing your coat into the dining room chair. You stomped up the stairs to get changed and stomped back down into the main room to watch TV.

You heard footsteps coming down the stairs and (y/f/m) appeared in the doorway. "What's up champ? You're home early." He spoke, sitting next to you, giving you his full attention.

"I've skipped my last lesson of the day but it was only because I wouldn't be able to focus. I was having such a good day and I was telling (y/f/n) about tonight and then that Chloe piped up and started laying into me because I call you dad and she was saying that I shouldn't call you that because you're not my "real dad" and it just got to me." You sighed, resting your head on his shoulder.

"You know what, some of your mums friends told me the other day that it was weird that I call you my daughter because your not my biological daughter so I know exactly how you feel" he smiled, pulling you into his side a little bit more.

You say in a comfortable silence before you spoke again. "The thing is though (y/f/m), you are my real dad. He's not my real dad, I'll never class him as my 'real dad', only my biological dad. To me, a real dad is someone who loves, cherishes and cares for his daughter or son. A real dad is someone who you can always rely on even if he isn't with your mum, if he still put in the effort to see me and spend time with me then he's my real dad but he didn't. He left. He walked out, a real parent doesn't do that. You didn't do that. You raised me as though I'm your biological daughter, you gave me all the love I could ever hope for. You came to all of my primary school shows and you supported me all the way through high school and especially during my exams and that, to me is a real dad. You are my real dad, not him. I love you, dad." You smiled, wiping away the tears that fell from (y/f/m)'s eyes as he tackled you into a hug.

"I love you too, my little angel" he whispered. "Now, shall we put a film on and start this daddy daughter night early?"

"That sounds perfect" you smiled, standing up to put Tangled on.
