You ended up walking the way you had seen Baron leave. None of you had any idea where he had gone, and the plan had seemed good at the time, but now you weren't too sure.
'So (Y/N)?' Jack grinned, 'Seeing as this is your majestic plan, where are we going?'
'Straight.' You gritted your teeth awkwardly, unsure what else to say. Beside you, Hiccup frowned. 'So did Baron mention where he was going?'
You turned and looked at him accusingly. 'You should know!' You snapped, 'You knew he was leaving.'
Hiccup paused, hurt written on his face. 'I-I'm sorry.'
You sighed, shaking your head. 'I'm sorry too.' You whispered. Hiccup walked towards you, running his fingers down your cheek. 'You have every right to be mad at me.' He whispered soothingly, 'I should've told you before he left.'
You didn't say anything, hypnotized by Hiccups hand.
'Umm... still here guys.' Jack's arms suddenly appeared in your vision, waving awkwardly as he tried to get your attention. You turned, noticing that he was glaring at Hiccup. Hiccup glared back.
'Let's keep walking.' You groaned, ignoring the increasingly awkward conversation.
'Let's.' Jack muttered through gritted teeth. He glanced at you, and you saw the pain in his eyes. You eyed him apologetically. He smirked, raising his arms. 'A hug for my forgiveness.' You caught him glance at Hiccup and then his gaze fixed on you, arms still outstretched. You smirked, shaking your head and moved forward. You reached for him, about to hug him, and froze.
Your eyes narrowed as you watched the piercing yellow eyes closely.
'Jack.' You whispered, remaining completely still.
'What?' Jack made a move to step towards you. Quickly but gently, you shook your head. Your eyes never left the piercing yellow ones.
'What is it?' Jack asked. He looked at Hiccup, concern on his face. Hiccup didn't reply, face deathly pale.
'Stop talking.' You whispered urgently. Jack nodded.
'Slowly move towards me.' You whispered. Jack looked confused, but also like he believed you. Slowly, he took a step towards you. Your heart pounded. Your chest thumped. Your eyes never left the yellow ones.
Jack continued to walk towards you. You could see the trace of fear in his eyes. It made your breath catch. 'What is it?' His mouth mimed. You didn't say anything. You didn't want to scare him. He was so close to you. You watched the eyes intently. They were slowly moving, but not enough so that they were getting closer.
Jack reached your side. He turned. You felt yourself let out a breath you didn't know you'd been holding. Jack looked at you nervously. His breath hitched.
'What do we do?' Hiccup whispered. Jack looked at the eyes.
'If we move, we die.' You whispered, heart pounding more then before.
'If we stay, we die.' Jack mumbled. You felt the fear completely grip you. Your knees went weak. You wanted to fall. You wanted to run. But you stayed frozen to the spot.
'What do we do?' You asked one more time. It didn't take much for you to know the answer. Slowly, you braced yourself and then, 'Run!' Hiccup screamed. You took off, sprinting after Hiccup as he ran. Jack was flying beside you, screaming at you to run faster. Your legs felt like jelly. Your head and heart pounded. Hiccup was in front of you, screaming for Toothless. You could see the dragon in the distance, but he wouldn't make it in time. Behind you, you heard an ear-splitting howl and then the sound of running paws.
'Wolf!' You screamed. You forced your legs faster. You could hear the angry cry of the wolf. It snapped its teeth, hungry.
You emerged in a clearing, sliding to a spot beside Hiccup.
'What do we do!' You screamed. He shook his head helplessly. 'We have to get up high.' He yelled. He turned, spying a huge tree with countless branches and pointed at it. 'That one!' You both sprinted over to it.
Behind you came an ear-piercing howl and then a huge black wolf jumped into the clearing, it's yellow eyes watching you angrily. It started to circle, it's messy and tangled hair flying around it. It had a pointed nose, which raised its sharp teeth and made them more intimidating they snapped, tinged with red. You bit your lip, holding back a scream as it eyed you.
Jack appeared beside you, between you and the wolf. The wolf growled, bending low and ready to pounce.
'Hold on to me!' Jack yelled. You wrapped your arms around his waist. Jack shot into the air as the wolf pounced, narrowly missing you. It howled in anger, panting.
Jack placed you in the tree, higher then Hiccup who groaned and continued to climb.
'Are you ok?' Jack yelled, hands roaming your body as he looked for injuries. You forgot about the wolf momentarily, confused as Jack worried about you.
'Yes.' You whispered.
'Are you sure?' He almost sounded like he was begging. You nodded. His hands stopped looking. They looped around your neck, pulling you against him. He hugged you tight and you hugged back. His head was in the crook of your neck, holding you, protecting you. You desperately wanted to kiss him and it took everything you had to remember it would hurt Hiccup.
'Jack.' You whispered after what seemed like ages, 'You can let go.' He did, only slightly as he stayed close to you.You could tell he wanted to kiss you too. You shrugged off the thought. You looked down. 'Where did it go?' You asked, surprise overwhelming you. Hiccup reached you, panting. You looked at him for answers. 'I might be wrong.' He mumbled, 'But it left because it wasn't hungry...'
'What does that mean?' You asked. You felt that familiar fear. Hiccup's eyes filled with worry. 'It means someone sent it to kill us.'
Beside you, Jack sucked in a breath. 'What?'
Hiccup frowned. 'It was hunting us.'
