The wreckage of Berk was a less-than-pleasant sight to see as Hiccup landed Toothless and helped you down from the dragon's back after he did.
Unfortunately, Jack had gone his separate ways with you two after the intense battle back in the cave. He said that he had a few important errands that he needed to run but that was all he would tell you.
When you'd came off of the Night Fury, Hiccup spread his arms to retrieve one more rider from his dragon's back, Astrid, whom was still unconscious from the rather harsh blow to the head that you'd given her. You cringed at the memory.
"I'm going to bring her to the healers, I'll be right back." Hiccup informed you, the sleeping blonde rested in his arms. "Don't go anywhere, okay?"
You opened your mouth, prepared to protest but instead shut it and gave him a nod. He probably has enough on his mind right now-Not to mention after your declaration of your love for him- to be bother with your disobedience.
"Alright, good." He sighed and walked off into the mostly-demolished-land of Berk.
You let out a loud huff and leaned your back against Toothless' scaly side. The dragon stared wide-eyed at you as though he was waiting for you to speak to him. You cracked a weak smile at the thought which made Toothless grinned his famous toothless grin. You laughed and rubbed his head, he nuzzled his head into your touch. Your hands had regained their warmth and you no longer felt the unbearable cold that was spreading through your body earlier back in the cave. Jack had confirmed that the ice that Marcus had shot you was only temporary if they'd got you to warmer surroundings in time. Jack... you shut your eyes at the silent mention of his name in your name.
The image of the white-haired boy flooded into your mind and so did all the nostalgic memories that the two of you had made years ago. You couldn't help but blame yourself for Jack's abrupt depart, couldn't help thinking that maybe it had something to do with you confessing your love for Hiccup, that he'd been heartbroken from the utter realization. But that's not... possible, he should've known your feelings for Hiccup, he's the one who's always been able to read your emotions perfectly and doubtlessly. So maybe... he could even see the love that you felt for him, the equally passionate, care and longing that you'd shared for Hiccup.
You knew you had to choose between these two beautiful, amazing boys, but, the truth is... you can't. You love them both, more than you'd ever loved anyone else in that way before. They'd both given you something beyond your wildest dreams and desires, they'd given you excitement, adventure, laughter, friendship... and most important, two unforgettable loves that you'll forever cherish.
"Hey, (Y/N)!" you snapped back to reality when you heard Hiccup called out for you. He was running towards you. You pulled your hands from
Toothless who let out a low groan and locked your gaze with the Viking as he finally reached you, his chest heaving rapidly from the running."(Y/N)..." he breathed, a smile growing on his sweet face.
"Is something wrong? Is Astrid okay? Is she alright? Oh god, please don't tell me I'd killed her because I-" you started babbling and panicking uncontrollably until Hiccup placed a hand on your shoulder, calming you.
"No, no, Astrid's fine." He said with a slight chuckle.
You sighed in relief. God, you were sure you almost had a heart attack.
"I just..." he sucked in a deep breath, his glistening green orbs never left yours. "I just wanted you talk about what happened... back in the cave."
Immediately knew without a doubt that he was speaking about the way you told him you'd loved him. "I-I..." you stuttered and trailed off, unsure of how to respond.
"I just want to make sure," he said and glance down the ground as an act of nervousness before returning up to meet your eyes. "Th-that you love me."
You were stunned by his words, vaguely hurt at the same time as he would be so doubtful of your love for him. "I do, Hiccup..." you murmured. "I do love you. I love you so much that it both physically and emotionally hurts me, I love you," you repeated. "And I would say that a million more times if it would convince you that I really do."
Hiccup stared at you, his expression dazed and you hadn't realized you'd been breathing so hard until you could hear your loud, ragged breaths leaving your lips as he leaned in, closing the short distance that separated the two of you.
"I know you love him too, you know...?"
You looked up at his vibrant emerald eyes; they were so close now that you could see the tiny, golden specks at the edge. "What...?" the word escaped you in a soft, weak whisper.
"I know that you love Jack too," he clarified. "We'd talked about you the day before Marcus' army attacked. He'd admitted that he loved you and it takes no fool to see that you clearly feel the same about him as well."
You didn't reply.
"We'd also talked about how you needed to choose... between the two of us." He added and placed his lips on yours, gently brushing against them like a soft, sweet caress. "But now... I know that you can't possibly do that."
"Hiccup," you whispered, your eyes fluttering close to savor in his delicate touches. "I love you... both of you..."
"I love you too... and I know." Was the last thing he said before pressed his lips on yours and pulled you into a deep, heart-felt kiss.
