'Well, well, well... Look what we have here.' Marcus tapped his chin thoughtfully. 'I knew I'd see you two again.' He grinned at you. You weren't sure why, but you took Jack's hand. His immediately tightened on yours, squeezing it reassuringly. You felt a bit of comfort from it but not enough to stop your beating heart.
'What do you want?' You asked.
Marcus glanced at your entwined hands. 'How sweet.' He spoke with no emotion. 'I should've predicted it.'
'You should have.' You growled, anger welling within you.
Marcus raised an eyebrow. 'That was a dragon net.' He observed, 'How did you get out of it?'
As he said it you doubled over in pain, dropping to the floor and moaning. Of course you were acting, but Marcus couldn't know that. You had to get that knife before he saw it, otherwise you would never get out.
'(Y/N)!' Jack yelped, falling beside you. 'What's wrong?'
'I- I don't know.' You forced out tears, which was easier then you thought it would be. It was like all your bottled up emotions just poured out of you. 'It hurts.'
Marcus was watching from a distance, amused. You felt bad for tricking Jack, but you had to for the sake of both of you. You pushed him away gently, keeping that pained expression on your face. You rolled over, grabbing the knife as you did and shoving it in your boot. Then you just lay on the ground, moaning to make sure they believed you.
'(Y/N).' Jack whispered, placing his hand on your shoulder. 'Are you ok?' You nodded, putting as much emotion as you could to make yourself weak.
'Get her up now or she dies.' Marcus growled, his amusement clearly gone. 'We need to continue our conversation.'
You let Jack pull you to your feet hurriedly, leaning against him as you stood.
'Better.' Marcus smiled. 'Now... where were we?'
You rubbed your eyes, wiping away the tears that were left. Marcus watched you, waiting for answer. When you didn't give one, he continued, 'What happened to Baron?'
Your face paled, anger welling within you. 'You know exactly what happened!' You screamed.
'Do I?' Marcus asked innocently, 'Please, do enlighten me.'
You couldn't answer, this time breaking down for real. This was exactly the reaction Marcus wanted. You could tell as his smile widened. You sunk to your knees, pain real this time. 'He's gone.' Was all you could say.
'Pity.' Marcus muttered, 'He was a good kid.'
All you felt was anger. 'You did this to him!' You screamed, glaring at Marcus. 'He's dead because of you!' You leapt to your feet.
'(Y/N).' Jack grabbed your wrist, a warning tone in his voice. 'Don't.'
'I hate you!' You screamed, yanking your arm out of Jack's grasp. 'You did this to him! You tortured him as a kid! He was good Marcus, can't you see that?'
'You think I don't care?' Marcus yelled back, equally as mad. 'I do care (Y/N). I care a lot!' Everything told you he was lying but you wanted to believe him so bad. You almost did.
Marcus sighed. 'I raised that boy. I looked after him. I trained him to be who he was... and then you came! You took him away from me! You made him fall for you!' Marcus was getting angry again. 'I'm not capable of love, (Y/N), but that was the closest I ever got to it.'
His words broke you. 'You cared about him?' You whispered, completely forgetting the doubt you had felt. Marcus grinned at you. 'You think that was real?' He started laughing, 'Gosh, you children believe the craziest things!' He looked at the ground. 'I NEVER cared about him! He was a soldier, a warrior and yes, I valued him but I never cared about him.'
You swore, walking towards Marcus. You couldn't help yourself. You swung at him. Marcus caught your clenched fist with ease, an evil smile on his face. 'So fun to tease.' He muttered, 'And to think you both nearly escaped.' He glanced at Jack as he ran towards you both. 'Boys!' He yelled as Jack reached you and was about to take a swing himself.
A rush of soldiers ran into the room, grabbing you both by the arms. You struggled, screaming out. 'Pin them to the chairs!' Marcus yelled. Two more men ran into the room and chained chairs to the ground. You were roughly shoved into them. Chains were wrapped around you until you could barely breathe.
'Let us go!' Jack yelled. Marcus chuckled as the men filed out of the room. He walked towards you slowly, drawing a knife from his pocket.
'Don't touch her.' Jack growled, as he got closer. Marcus ignored him. 'Hurt me instead!'
'I don't think so.' Marcus grinned at Jack. You felt that familiar fear in your pit, almost like you felt when you were with Pitch. Marcus placed his knife to your throat, a wide grin on his face.
'I'm going to enjoy this.' He growled, 'You have no idea how long I've waited. Now I'm going to make you pay.'
You spat at him, a sly smirk on your face. 'You can't hurt me.'
Marcus growled. 'This is for Baron. You know I was being honest (Y/N). I'm not capable of love, but that was the closest I ever got. And so I intend to make this painful, because I know it will cause Baron the same pain that his death caused me.'
