A smile lit up your face as you wrapped your arms around him, pulling him closer. Hiccup chuckled, hugging you back just as tightly. 'It's great to see you too.'
You laughed at that. 'I knew you'd come back.' But then a dark feeling settled in the pit of your stomach. 'Why didn't you tell me?'
Hiccup frowned. 'I'll explain everything when we get back. Marcus' men are nearly-'
Now it was your turn to frown. 'You haven't been to Berk yet, have you?' Your voice held no expression, speaking as though you were a zombie, dead.
Hiccup let you go, pulling away and looking deep into your eyes. 'No? Why? Did something happen while I was gone?'
You didn't have to answer for him to figure it out. He could read you and when he did his eyes darkened, almost to the point were he looked dangerous. 'Oh.' Was all he said. He turned you around so you were sitting behind him, turned away from you and without a word flew towards the village.

The town was covered in snow. No, not snow. You would've thought it was if it weren't for the blazing buildings, cries for help and the aura of fear. The town was covered in a layer of ash, coating it in darkness, adding to the fear exactly like Marcus would've wanted it to.
Hiccup growled. 'How many?'
You looked at him, confused. 'What?'
'How many dead?' He almost seemed dead himself.
'I- I don't know.' You whispered. Hiccup growled again, louder this time. 'You're not being very helpful.' He snapped. You were so taken aback you nearly fell off Toothless. 'What?' Your asked incredulously, voice raising an octave.
'(Y/N) how many are dead?' Hiccup asked again, voice stern. Toothless started descending, heading towards the heart of the village.
You felt something in your chest. Anger. Here Hiccup was, yelling at you when he had been the one that left. And somehow this was your fault? You finally snapped, all the anger boiled up within you and you just screamed your thoughts. 'You know what?' You screamed, 'Even if I did know I wouldn't tell you! I've been worried sick, Hiccup, can't you see that? You left me! You didn't tell me where you were going or even if you'd come back! And here you are yelling at me like it never happened!' You felt the tears starting to come. 'I was the only one who believed in you... Who knew you'd come back! I stood up for you, and I had hope even when no one else did.'
'What good is it now?' Hiccup frowned.
'What good is it?' You were so surprised. 'What good is hope? Hiccup I-' You couldn't even continue.
Toothless hit the ground with a loud thud, moaning slightly as he heard you two fight. Hiccup sighed, swung himself around in the saddle and faced you. 'I'm sorry I left you.' He whispered. 'But-'
You almost slapped him. 'Stop with the excuses Hiccup.' Your voice came as a strangled sob. You slid off Toothless, landing beside him and rubbing his head. 'Thanks for saving me.' You mumbled and then you turned to leave.
'(Y/N), wait!' Hiccup called. You turned around, heart in your throat, waiting for him to speak.
'I... I really am... sorry.' Hiccup bit his lip.
You sighed. 'I just hope it was worth it.' And then you walked away, not even glancing back at the boy as he watched you go.
