Without a sound Astrid crumpled to the ground.
'Astrid!' You screamed, throwing the rock across the room as you fell to your knees, guilt overwhelming you. 'Oh, please don't be dead! Astrid open your eyes.' You begged. The girl groaned and rolled over. You breathed a sigh of relief.
Astrid opened her eyes and immediately you smiled. Her eyes were no longer glowing.
'Well that sucked.' She muttered, rubbing her head. 'What happened?'
You glanced at Jack. He ran his fingers through his hair, lips tugging up at the corners. 'You saved my-'
'Stop!' Marcus screamed. You immediately froze. 'Nobody move.'
'Do we look like we're moving?' You heard Hiccups' sarcastic yet weak voice.
'Shut up.' Marcus's voice was eerily calm. You glanced at him. He clutched Jack's staff, standing a few feet in front of the chair that bound him, with an evil grin on his face. 'Or I will kill you.'
'Why you little-'
'What do you want?' You interrupted Hiccup harshly.
'What do I- what do I want?' Marcus asked incredulously. Then he turned to Hiccup, 'I want his head.'
Hiccup growled.
Marcus chuckled. 'You can't stop me.' He turned the staff over in his hands then pointed it at Hiccup. 'Now I'm going to count to three and then I'm shooting your head off.' He winked, 'Unless of course... you stop me.'
'How-'
'One!' Marcus screeched. You panicked. 'How do we stop you?'
'I don't know. Two! Figure it out beautiful...' Marcus gripped the staff, pointing it at Hiccup. You glanced over at Jack only to find him gone. You searched for him and found him creeping behind Marcus.
'Hey Marcus!' You screamed. You had to buy time. 'I'll make a deal with you.'
Marcus hesitated. 'What?'
You had to think quickly. 'I- In return for Hiccups life-' You paused. You really had nothing. There was nothing Marcus wanted except revenge and you both knew that. But then you had a thought... and it was crazy. 'You can take mine.'
Marcus froze. He clearly hadn't seen that coming. But then a wide grin spread across his face and his whispered the worst word you'd ever heard. 'Three.'
You screamed and dived. Cold blazed through you and somewhere you heard Hiccup's scream. You landed on the ground, groaning in agony. Your body felt frozen, the cold seeping into your blood.
Hiccup appeared by your side, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you to him in an attempt to keep you warm. 'You're so stupid.' He cried, tears streaming down his face. 'I would've happily died for you!'
'I'm not going to die.' You groaned, chuckling slightly. But even as you said it the cold was spreading, moving towards your heart.
'(Y/N)!' Jack screamed. You looked up to see Jack behind Marcus. Marcus spun around and Jack punched him in the nose so hard you heard a sickening crack.
'Hiccup.' You whispered. He looked down at you, fear and hurt clearly in his eyes. The pain was spreading through you fast. If you'd had enough energy you would've been screaming. You wanted to die. You knew you were going to die -
'If- if you were ever my friend-' You coughed uncontrollably.
'No. Don't you dare.' Hiccup bit his lip.
'You have to stop the pain.' And this time a very real scream was ripped from your throat as the ice found the edges of your heart. You began to shake.
'Please.'
Somewhere across the room you heard Marcus's scream and then Jack was by your side, taking you from Hiccup.
'Hiccup, you need to kill him.' Jack whispered to the boy. Hiccup nodded. You looked across the room to see Marcus standing without the staff, clutching his nose and looking defeated. But something about it seemed wrong.
Hiccup stood up and you grabbed his arm. 'Wait.' You croaked. He looked down at you.
'I'll be right back.'
You shook your head, pain ripping your skull and it took all your energy to say these words. 'Something's wrong.' You whispered, 'It's too easy.'
