"Oh my god," you gasped as you absentmindedly reached your hands out for the vial. "Oh my god!"
Jack let out a light chuckle and pulled his hand- the one that held the cure- closer to his chest. He shook his head, a smirk plastered on his face.

"What are the magic words?"

"Give me the stupid cure or I'll die." You answered which caused Jack to chuckle once more but handed you the cure this time. You took it without hesitation, the tiny vial felt cool in the palms of your hands.

You beamed at it; finally you're going to be cured, finally you're going to live, and finally you're going to have to choose. And that's when it hit you, you haven't told either Hiccup or Jack about Baron yet... You glanced over your shoulder to look at Hiccup who was directing Toothless steadily through the clouds in the sky, and sighed. How on earth are you going to break this to him...?

"(Y/N)?" you heard Jack murmured your name, making you immediately snapped your attention back to him. "What's wrong?" his crystal blue eyes seemed concerned.

"Nothing." You lied through your teeth, but Jack didn't buy it; who were you kidding here? You're attempting to lie to the best liar in the world! Surely he would see right through you as though you were made of clear glass.

His lips fell into a grim line and he crossed his arms over his chest. You sighed again, sucked in a deep, deep breath and told him the absolute truth, "When I w-was... looking for you guys in the forest... s-something ha-happened... something a-awful..."

Jack's vaguely frosted eyebrows furrowed as he took in your words. "What happened, (Y/N)...?"

"Pitch came back to get me..." you began, your voice shaking as you spoke and the lump in your throat didn't make it anymore easier. "A-and B-Baron... he... he saved me... b-but P-Pitch..." you hadn't realized you were crying until you felt the dampness of tears streaming down your cheeks, Jack wrapped you into his arms and pulled you close. You buried your tearstained face into his chest as you mumbled the last words... "B-Baron's d-dead..."

You felt Jack's body stiffened beside you; you could sense the shock that he must be experiencing at the moment. "What...?" you suddenly heard a voice spoke up from behind you, and you felt yourself froze. Oh god, please don't tell me he heard... please don't tell me he heard what I'd just said, you begged silently to yourself.

"(Y/N)," the familiar voice asked, and this time, you pulled yourself away from Jack's grasp and slowly, hesitantly turned around to meet Hiccup's gaze. "I-is it true...? Is Baron really d...dead...?" he seemed to had quite a hard time trying to choke out the last word, but you couldn't blame him; it's difficult even for you to say it in the same sentence with Baron.

You gulped and nodded.

And that one single movement, that one slight movement, guaranteed the confirmation that caused Hiccup Haddock, the proud chief of Berk, to break down into tears.

You felt your heart shatter into a million pieces at the sight of him like that; you moved forward and bent down, pull your arms around him and cradling his head in your arms. As much as you wanted to provide him with comforting words, you can't, because you were just as broken as he was.

Dawn has arrived, it's already been 20 hours since Hiccup, Jack and I had got back to Berk. The news of Baron's death seemed to have spread through the whole village; and even though most of the people here have never met him or even knew about him before, they looked just as upset as though he'd been a good friend of theirs.

Today, they're beginning to rearrange Baron's funeral, some of us went back into the woods and carried his body out, it was gray and lifeless... you couldn't refrain yourself from crying every time you see him. He was gone, he was really, really gone.

They're going to have the funeral tomorrow morning, and Hiccup's been up all night working on it, rearranging things to create the perfect funeral that Baron rightfully deserves. Even though the two of them didn't really talk much, nor liked each other, the thought still makes him mourn, because he's lost his brother... the brother that he never knew he'd had...

Jack's been with me the whole night; he was given the order to take care of you. You still haven't taken the cure yet, and it still confuses him as you why you haven't done so. Because really, only you know the reason, only you does it makes sense to; you couldn't help but blame yourself for Baron's death, you couldn't help but feel the guilt that some insignificant thing that you caused led him to this terrible fate...

Because to you, this is the real and hideous truth.
