Your breath caught. 'Pitch Black.' You growled, stepping back. 'Leave me alone.'
Pitch chuckled menacingly. 'Did you not hear what I said?' He growled, 'I can save you.'
'I don't need to be saved.' Your voice cracked and you stumbled.
'Really?' Pitch watched your shaking form. 'I think we both know you do.'
'I don't!' You growled but as you said it, you grabbed onto a nearby tree branch, supporting yourself. Pitch watched you. 'Pity.' He tilted his head curiously, 'I think you have a lot of things to live for.'
You paused at him words, eyeing him darkly. 'What do you know about me?' You growled, 'Nothing! You know nothing about me!' Your fists involuntarily clenched.
'You know nothing about me!' Pitch retaliated. 'I meant it when I said I could save you.'
'You can't save me!' You felt yourself weakening again. You bit your lip, drawing blood. 'No one can save me!'
'I can!' Pitch growled. He took a step towards you. 'It's not even that hard.'
You paused. Pitch generally looked like he meant what he said. He had this look in his eyes... almost like he was pleading for you to believe him. Without thinking, you said, 'How?'
Pitch's face turned into a smile as he reached out his hand. You watched it and then sighing, you took it and let him pull you to your feet. You immediately stumbled and fell. Pitch caught you, supporting you as he led you over to a fallen tree trunk. You sat on it gratefully, happy as you moved further away from him.
'How?' You repeated, looking him in the eyes. They seemed unhappy and it made you pity him, yet deep down you could see the darkness that plagued them.
'The power that runs in your veins...' Pitch looked like he was hypnotized just thinking about it, 'It's powerful but it will kill you.'
You nodded, looking down at your hands. 'I know.' You grunted, 'How can you help me?'
'I can switch places with you.' Pitch said quietly.
'Switch?' Your eyes widened in surprise.
'Yes my dear.' Pitch looked completely serious. 'Honestly, your reaction is quite insulting.'
'Insulting?' You raised an eyebrow. 'Why?'
'Just is.' Pitch shrugged. Your eyes narrowed. From what Jack had said about Pitch, you thought he would've been terrible but he didn't seem that bad.
'You can't save me.' You whispered again. 'No one can.'
'Your faith in me is overwhelming.' Pitch rolled his eyes. 'Just let me explain.'
After a while you nodded, ushering for him to continue. He rolled his eyes. 'I will switch places with you-'
'You'll die!'
Pitch held up his hand. 'Shut up!' He grumbled, 'By switching, I'll be able to take away your pain and save you.' He lowered his hand, allowing you to speak.
'And what happens to me?'
'You'll be saved.' He looked at you like you were stupid.
'What happens to me!' You demanded again.
'You'll die!' Pitch screamed angrily. 'And you'll become a spirit! You can be with Jack forever!' His scream was ear piercing. You reckon the whole world could've heard it. You looked at him angrily. 'I don't want to die!' You yelled.
'Death is easier then you think.' Pitch sighed, 'I would know.' You felt pain within you at the look on his face. You put your hand on his arms, looking him in the eyes. 'I can't die Pitch.'
'You're going to die anyway.' Pitch, you could tell, was starting to lose control. You took your arm away, standing up. 'Well it's been great talking to you!' You squeaked. A growl ripped from Pitch's throat and you were beginning to see what Jack meant. 'I will make the rest of your life painful!' He screamed, 'You will die slowly, painfully and I will make it as horrible as I can!'
'Why?' You yelled. 'Why don't you just let me go!'
'Because the power inside you is mine.' Pitch growled, 'You stole it from me!' He jumped up, hand wrapping around your throat and lifting you off the floor. Fear ripped through you as you struggled to breath. 'Stop-' You squeaked desperately.
'Give me your blood.' Pitch's yellow eyes narrowed.
You weakly shook your head, dizziness filling you. Pitch let go of you. You dropped to your knees, coughing as you struggled for air.
'I need your blood!' Pitch yelled, 'Voluntarily.'
'You'll never get it.' You mumbled.
'(Y/N)?' Jack's voice suddenly echoed around the clearing. He stood with Hiccup and Toothless. You looked up, seeing the pure hatred on Jack's face. You sighed in relief at the sight of them. 'Looks like you've lost Pitch.' You smirked.
Pitch's face turned from one of surprise into a dark smile. 'But I don't lose, darling.' And with that he moved with lightening speed. The next thing you knew, Jack was lying on the ground next to you, completely unconscious.
'Jack!' You screamed. You looked up. Toothless was asleep, his figure shaking from a nightmare. And Hiccup... He was in Pitch's arms, a knife held to his throat.
'Give me the blood.' Pitch snarled. You looked at the knife against Hiccup's throat.
'Let them go.' You growled.
'Give me your blood.' Pitch snapped, 'And I'll let them go.'
