'How long?' You swore your face went pale. Jack opened his mouth to reply but he never got to. The hiss and snaps of dragons suddenly filled the room. 'Dragons?' Your eyes widened. You felt a sick feeling in the bottom of your stomach. But dragons were good?
Jack reached out his hand and you took it, running outside. Already the town was in chaos, even though they had had time to prepare. Two days... not three. Part of Marcus's plan to lure you into the thought of believing you were safe for at least a day... God you hated him so much!
'How did Marcus get dragons?' You looked up at the sky as you ran through the village. Dark shapes appeared on the horizon, moving towards Berk at a lightening speed. 'Dragons are supposed to be good!'
'Ask Hiccup.' Jack snapped angrily. You stopped running, stunned at his words. Jack spun around. 'Sorry.' He mumbled, 'Just tense.' You could tell he was lying as soon as he bit his lip.
'Jack.' You growled. 'Where's Hiccup?'
Jack didn't answer; instead he grabbed your hand and started dragging you through the town. 'It doesn't matter.' He growled, anger obvious on his features. You looked up to see the dragons getting closer. You narrowed your eyes, looking at them. Their eyes were red, like they were blazing with fire, almost like the dragon you had stolen the blood from. 'Umm... Jack?' You asked. He ignored you. 'Jack.' You said again. Jack groaned but continued pulling you. 'Look (Y/N), we need to get armour or we'll die!'
'Jack!' You screamed. Jack paused now, turning to face you. Despite his expressionless face, his eyes showed all of his emotions. They were filled with pain, worry and horror... not his usual fun expression. 'I need to protect you (Y/N).' Jack almost sounded like he was begging, 'Please just let me help you. You should never have been in this mess. I am going to save you!'
'Jack stop.' You bit your lip, 'and listen to me! Look at their eyes.' Jack hesitated but looked up, eyes widening as he did. 'Oh shit.' He said, 'This is going to be interesting.'
You nodded. 'They look like the dragon from the island.'
'Yep.' Jack said, eyes darkening as he started running. This time you needed no encouragement, instead running after him. 'Can we kill them?' You yelled. The dragons were close and only now could you make out the figures of humans on the dragon's backs. They held raised swords, yelling a chant. 'We're so dead.' You whispered.
'No we're not.' Jack somehow heard you. You reached the armory and he dragged you inside. Immediately Vikings began shoving armour on you, handing you heavy weapons. You struggled to lift them, rolling your eyes. 'Anything heavier?' You asked.
A Viking handed you an axe. You just looked at it, not even bothering to try picking it up. 'Ok anything lighter?' This time you were handed a sword, arms length, made of fine iron and steel. You gripped the handle, lifting it in awe. 'Whoa.' You whispered.
You turned to face Jack. 'Ready?' He asked.
You nodded, hesitating slightly. 'Where's Hiccup?' You asked again. Jack looked away from you. 'He- Well he-' You could see the anger in Jack's eyes.
'It's ok Jack.' You said, 'I need to know.'
Jack looked up, meeting your gaze. He must have seen how desperate you were because he sighed. 'He's gone (Y/N).' Jack said.
'What?' Your eyes widened in surprise. You almost dropped the sword. 'What do you mean?'
'I mean he left!' Jack growled, 'I never should've trusted him!' He sighed, 'Someone saw him leave last night and... well he never came back.'
You felt all the hope you had left fading. How could Hiccup leave you to fight this? This was his battle! This was for Baron... For all of you. Marcus needed to pay... But then you remembered the look in the dragon's eyes. No one could win this battle. It was suicide and Hiccup must have known that. Still he could've stayed, or warned you.
'He'll come back.' You whispered, 'He has to.'
'I'm sorry (Y/N).' Jack sighed, pushing open the door. 'But this was never his battle. It's ours.'
