Hiccup expected you to scream... cry... dance... just something. But you did nothing. You just watched him, searching for any sign that he was lying. But all there was was honesty in his eyes and it drove you crazy.
'You're sure?' You asked finally.
'Positive.' Hiccup nodded and then he turned away, 'The only problem is we don't know where to find Marcus.'
'I think I can help with that.' At the sound of Jack's voice you spun around, a warm feeling in the pit of your stomach. Jack strode towards you, smiling warmly. 'Hey (Y/N).' He whispered, holding out his arms. You let him pull you into them, wrapping you in a tight embrace. And then he let go.
'Where is he?' Hiccup asked, lips in a grim line as he watched both of you.
'I'd rather not say.' Jack glanced around nervously. Despite where you were being completely silent there was still the aura of chaos around it. 'But we are going to need dragons to get there.'❅ ❀ ❆
You were standing on a pebble beach. Water crashed against the shore, gently, and with a false sense of power. The pebbles stretched before you, leading to the mouth of a wide cave. All you could see inside it was darkness. The island lacked a single tree.
The winds felt like they were whispering to you.
Turn around...
Go back...
You'll die...
Beside you, Hiccup drew in a deep breath. Butterflies filled your stomach, but not the type you were used to. Jack walked towards the mouth of the cave, not daring to speak a word.
'Where are we?' You asked Hiccup. He glanced at you and motioned for you to be quiet. 'Let's just say it's dangerous.' And with that he set off after Jack, moving as carefully as he could. You followed suit, fear gnawing at you.
Almost as soon as you stepped into the cave you felt the overwhelming sense of dread. The voices were back... begging you to go back, to leave, but you couldn't. You kept walking until you reached Jack's side. You didn't say anything and neither did he, but both of you were scared. It didn't stop you.
Eventually your sight disappeared in the darkness. You used your hand to move through the cave, running it against the cave walls. You could feel Jack and Hiccup either side of you and the thought comforted you. That was until you heard the scream. It was ear-piercing and filled with agony, rippling through the cave.
'What?' You stumbled at the voice, hands shooting to cover your ears. The voice sounded familiar and the thought killed you.
'Ignore it.' Jack said, voice gritted. 'It's not real.'
The voice screamed again. 'Not real!' You yelped. And the voice became familiar. 'That's my mum!' And you bolted through the cave, thoughts of rationality gone as you ran. Jack and Hiccup screamed behind you and you could hear the pounding of feet. But all you cared about was your mum. Something grabbed your wrists and you screamed. 'Let me go!' You were spun around and suddenly in someone's arms.
'It's not real.' Jack whispered repeatedly. 'It's not real.' And you believed him, yet you still clung to him for dear life as the scream of your mother, soon joined by your father, filled with cave.
'We need to keep going.' Hiccup said gently. 'Try and block it out.'
'You can hear it to?' You asked.
'Yes.' They both nodded. 'But with different people.'
You sighed and let them lead you through the cave. The voices broke you but you knew you had to stay strong. It didn't take long before you emerged in a massive room. Torches lined the walls, lighting up the cavern. At first you were blinded but slowly your eyes adjusted, resting on a figure sitting in the middle of the room. A girl stood beside him, her blonde hair being her only visible feature.
'Astrid?' Hiccup asked. The girl turned around and shock took over you. Astrid looked like herself and everything about her seemed normal. But her eyes glowed green.
Hiccup drew in a sharp breath. 'Astrid it's us.' He spoke quietly. She took a step towards you, raising her axe. You glanced at Marcus. He looked terrified. Fear was radiating off his body like an uncontrollable disease.
'What did you do to her?' You growled even though you knew it was pointless. Marcus hadn't done anything. He was just as helpless as you were.
'The spirits.' He groaned, 'They possessed her.' As he said this Astrid growled.
'Astrid stop!' Hiccup said harshly. Astrid screamed loudly, her whole body shaking. And then she charged.
