You narrowed your eyes, pursing your lips thoughtfully.
'How far?' Hiccup asked, raising an eyebrow at the sight of you. You glanced at him and watched as he stepped away from Baron, moving to Toothless. He touched the dragon, gently shaking him until he was roused from his sleep. Toothless gave an exasperated and fearful sigh before shaking his head madly and jumping to his feet. He bared his teeth at Pitch who was lying on the ground.
'Dead?' Hiccup asked, looking Toothless in the eyes as he addressed Baron.
'No, he can't die... But he won't wake up for a while.' Baron shrugged simply. He looked at you. 'I'll move him before Jack wakes us.'
You smiled slightly.
'So where did he come from?' Hiccup inquired.
You groaned in frustration. 'Don't you think we should be planning an escape?' You grunted. Both Baron and Hiccup looked at you.
'They're at least twenty minutes behind me.' Baron pursed his lips thoughtfully, 'And we need to make sure Jack's ok.'
'Jack?' You question and you turned around in shock, 'CRAP!' and you ran to his side, dropping to your knees and pulling his head into your lap. Baron moved towards you, kneeling beside you. You barely noticed as you looked down at the unconscious winter spirit. You looked at his face, peaceful in this state but you noticed an out-of-place hair and you felt you had to move it. Gently, you brushed it out of his face. You smiled.
'He loves you.' Baron whispered. You glanced up at him. His expression looked hurt as he stared at you longingly. 'Yeah.' You whispered, 'He does.'
Baron sighed. You watched as he stood up, head slightly bent. 'I wish you could love me, the way he loves you.'
You opened your mouth to reply, and shut it, afraid of what might happen if you admitted your feelings for him.
Baron sighed again. He bit his lip and said, 'I better go help Hiccup with Toothless.'
Before you could say anything he was gone.❅ ❀ ❆
You felt the tears starting to form and looked up, not allowing them to fall. However they did and gently you reached up, wiping them away as they fell down your cheeks.
'(Y/N)?' You looked down to see Jack looking at you groggily. 'What happened?' He rubbed his head, 'Why does my head hurt?'
'Pitch.' You mumbled. Jack's eyes filled with hate. He struggled, trying to sit up but you held him down firmly. 'He's gone.' You whispered.
Jack visibly relaxed, resting his head in your lap. Then his expression saddened. 'I couldn't save you.' He whispered.
'I couldn't save you either.' You whispered. 'At least you tried.'
'But it wasn't enough!' Jack groaned. You gently stroked his head, running your fingers down his cheek. 'It was, Jack.' You whispered. You don't know why but you leant down, brushing your lips against his. You felt Jack smile against your lips and you smiled back, breaking away and looking down at him.
'You're so beautiful.' Jack whispered. You laughed slightly. 'Do you think you can stand?'
Jack nodded. 'Do we have to go already?' He whined, 'I was enjoying that.'
'So was I.' You smirked. Jack's eyes seemed to light up and he grinned.
'C'mon Frosty.' You said, 'Baron needs to tell you something.' There was no way you were going to tell him about the army now. Well you didn't know if it was an army... maybe you were exaggerating. But the thought still scared you.
You got to your feet, holding out your hand and pulling Jack to his feet. He swore, rubbing his head. 'Jeez, how hard did I hit that?'
'Hard.' Was all you said. You let him lean on you as you led him to Baron and Hiccup. They both looked jealous. You just shrugged it off. You were sure Jack would be smirking.
'So what's the plan?' You asked. Baron stared at Jack before averting his attention back to you.
'Plan?' Jack inquired.
'Yeah...' Baron mumbled, 'I... uhh... well there's a bunch of people coming after us.'
