Ch. 47 Eavesdropping

Joe's POV
We were meeting Tyler, Zoe, Alfie, Jack, Finn, Marcus and Dani for lunch. This would be the first time I've seen Dani in a while after what happened.

Was I thrilled? hell no.
Was I scared? A little.

Caspar Marcus Zoe Alfie and I were sat at the table waiting for them.

We finally saw them come in. I first see Tyler  and Jack. Then Finn and Dani behind them. Laughing.

Dani finally makes eye contact with me. My heart literally stops. I quickly look back at my menu.

Dani's POV
"They gave me a paper towel. A Paper Towel!" Finn continues with his story he's telling me and I start laughing, making him laugh. But his laugh makes me laugh even harder as we enter the restaurant. "Oh my god I swear-"

I stop talking as I make eye contact with Joe. He just stares at me then looks away. Not a smile, nothing. It felt like he just looked right through me. I felt as if the butterflies in my stomach turned back into caterpillars. My heart was beating so fast it felt like a ticking time bomb going to explode.

"Dani?" Finn grabs my arm. "You alright?" he looks at me then notices I'm looking at Joe. "It's alright, come on. We'll sit far from him if you want" he smiles at me and I agree.

Finn and I became really close. Not in that way. In a really good friendship. I told him everything. About Joe, my family, me.

We all greeted each other hugs and such.

How they were sitting:

I mostly talked to Finn the whole time.

Joe talked to everyone. Except me of course. He was all laughy and being his funny self. Acting like nothing was wrong. Maybe nothing is wrong, for him.

Finn continued his story from earlier. I couldn't really focus on what he was saying. I kept trying to listen in on what Joe was saying. He was obviously trying to he quiet about it which made me want to know.

"It was just a cheeky one night thing, Caspar thinks it's so much more." he said to Marcus and Caspar. But that is all I needed to hear.

"Dani?" Finn looks at me. "Excuse me." I say standing up putting my napkin on my plate then heading to the bathroom.

Joe's POV
"Excuse me." Dani gets up and leaves. Zoe stands up. "Leave it." Finn speaks up as he turns around to watch Dani. Zoe sits back down. I knew she still had feelings for me. I wanted to see if she would listen into my conversation, and If she did. She still loves me. Meaning her and Finn must not be a thing.

Then again, that might have been a stupid plan. Explaining I had a one night stand. Not the best idea I've had.
