Beginning to a New Tune

Feet pounded against the stone floor, as you ran down the hallway and up the flight of stairs with purple slippers on, realizing that it would have been better to run outside. Cursing at this mistake, you continued to propel yourself down the hall, as a voice sounded behind you, calling your name out in a terrifying manner. Why had a mere accident suddenly turned into a heated chase? There was no calming the one who chuckled darkly down the halls while you hoped to reach some safe haven, yet such a place was nonexistent. Making a turn and allowing curse words to erupt from your exhausted mouth, you stared at the beast's lair. Of all the places, you just had to end up here. Hearing the predator's voice close behind, you had no choice but to run inside the room and lock the door, though that would do little good against the enemy. A place to hide was the only option left, for there wasn't time to make a substitute rope out of sheets and climb out the window.

Glancing around the room in your purple v-neck shirt and black shorts, you found no acceptable hiding place. Hiding under the bed would be too obvious and there was no way you could fit into one of the black dresser drawers. Your eyes fell on the black and gold canopy that hung over the kind-sized bed, which had red sheets. If you hid up there, an indent of your form would be evident due to the weak fabric of the canopy. This left you with one option, which was to wait for them to appear in the room. Once they made their presence known, you would open the door and dart back down the hallway as well as the stairs.

Backing up against the door, you rested your left hand on the doorknob. There was no knocking heard on the door behind you and your nerves only increased, as you waited for them. A few moments later a familiar figure appeared before you and your (e/c) eyes noticed the blood that ran down their face. You hadn't meant to slice the kitchen knife across their face. It was their fault for surprising you while you were cutting up some fruit for breakfast. Even after a year of living with two impossible individuals, you still hadn't grown used to them secretly walking up behind you, or any of their affections for that matter. In fact you refused to grow used to them. The last thing you wanted was for them to fully dominate over you and your personal rebellion was a way to prevent that.

Just as you were about to unlock the door, you saw a saber hovering just above your left fingers. Cursing once more, you wished you had picked the kitchen knife back up before exiting the kitchen, yet the man before you threw it across the said room, preventing you from grabbing it in a timely manner. Seeing the sword being moved threateningly close to your neck, you pulled your left hand away from the doorknob and raised your hands up in defeat. The sword much to your displeasure stayed by your neck, as the individual closed the distance between the two of you. Within moments, the man's left fingers were under your chin, lifting your head up, so that you could look at him. Glaring, you crossed your arms, waiting for whatever he had in store.

His lips were inches from your own, as blood continued to flow down his face, staining the white peasant shirt he had on. Moreover, his long fingernails threatened to cut into your delicate flesh. A faint blush painted your cheeks, as you tried to back into the door more. A gold hoop earring rested in his right ear while a small diamond shaped ruby dangled from the hoop. Short red hair with yellow and pink highlights hung loosely around his head while reddish-orange eyes analyzed your facial features. Red pants covered his legs while red slippers were on his feet.

"Miss _____, first you have the audacity to cut me with a pathetic kitchen knife and then you try to run" Diamond stated, shaking his head back and forth in disapproval, before continuing, "What should I do to you in return? There's many possibilities, though which one would bring the greatest satisfaction?".

"I know how about you accept that the cut was an accident and let me go" you uttered, hardening your gaze on him.

"You see I can't do that, though ,Miss ____. Even after a year with us, you still haven't learned your place, how unfortunate".

Not letting up your gaze, you just waited for him to do something. His fingers moved from your chin to your neck, which was adorned with the necklace they had given you. Gold, silver, rubies and sapphires rested around your neck. You knew better than not to wear the necklace. There was only one instance where you had forgotten to wear the necklace and the experience that followed wasn't pleasant. Being trapped in a cage for the entirety of the day was a situation you would never forget. It was utterly humiliating, as the brothers teased you and fed you through the bars of the cage. Your memory of the instance was interrupted, when you felt Diamond's left index finger cutting into the flesh on your shoulder. Wincing in pain, you bit your bottom lip and watched as his finger stopped just above the fabric of your purple v-neck shirt.

Withdrawing his finger from your skin, he licked the blood off, allowing you just the amount of time to escape. Unlocking the door, you turned the knob and ducked under the saber, running back into the hall. Before you could make it even a foot down the hall, you ran into the chest of another familiar individual. Hands rested on your shoulders, pushing you back a little, so you could stare up at the figure. Loose blue hair with lime green highlights hung around Heart's blue eyes while a plain blue plush bathrobe covered his body. Moreover, a silver hoop with a blue sapphire heart hanging from it rested in his left ear.

"My dear lady, why do you have blood running down your shoulder? Let me clean that up for you" he stated, yawning a bit, before smirking.

Obviously, he just got up and didn't feel like getting dressed properly. Before you could protest, he dragged his tongue over your wound. His blue eyes met his brother's reddish-orange ones before he pulled away and glanced once more at you. Personally, you just wanted to run, but now with Heart here you had very little chance of doing so.

"Hmm, you seem slightly tired almost like you were running. What did you do? Looking at my brother, it would seem that you angered him and even cut him. Ah, my dear lady, you know you shouldn't do that".

Your urge to smack the blue-haired male increased, as you heard Diamond approaching the two of you. You tried to get out of Heart's grip, but he held you in place, turning you around, so his chin rested on your right shoulder. Diamond, now standing a few inches from you, took out his saber once more and brought the tip of the blade up to your face. The wound on his face now was already healing, leaving just the remnants of dried blood on his cheek and shirt, though the blood blended in slightly with the red diamond, which was on the left side of his face. His trademark smile graced his facial features, as he sliced the blade across your left cheek as well as your right cheek. Holding in your cries of pain, you bit the inside of your left cheek while Diamond sheathed the saber.

"I think that will be suitable for your punishment. Now, let us go have breakfast" he said, walking around Heart and you.

Heart continued to rest his chin on your shoulder while you wanted to wipe the blood off of your face. Sighing, the blue-haired male released you from his hold before picking you up and carrying you to the kitchen. Not having the will to protest, you just cast your gaze elsewhere while he hummed quietly to himself. The wounds on your face stung more than anything and you had the growing need to scratch them. Clinching your fists, you saw that you were now in the dining room. Setting you down on the wooden chair, which had blue floral patterned cushions, Heart went over to his chair while Diamond was already sitting in his chair. Aberrous soon came out of the kitchen with your meals, though he looked worried when he saw the markings on your face. You gave him a small smile, signaling that you would be fine.

Seeing a glass of water before you, you dabbed your napkin in it and began to wipe off your face. Thankfully, none of the blood had stained your shirt, but the soft crème color of the napkin's fabric was now dyed red. Setting the now stained napkin to the side, you went to eat your food, but heard a loud pounding sound throughout the castle. Both brothers seemed startled by this sudden noise before their gazes darkened considerably. It was probably just another harmless traveler, which really didn't matter to the brothers. The last person that asked for shelter was almost cut into pieces before having a door slammed in their face. At least that's what you heard from Woodlily. Deciding to see who was knocking on the castle doors, you got out of your chair after placing a piece of raspberry coffee cake into your mouth. You managed to make it to the hall before you were stopped by the two twins. They gazed at you warningly, essentially telling you not to take a step further. Rolling your eyes, you glanced back and forth between the two of them.

"Just let me see who it is. It could be Fade, you know".

"I don't think that's the case, Miss _____, besides she already visited this week. Now, return to your chair while we attend to the person at the door".

"No, the two of you barely let me see anything outside of this castle, so I'm just asking this once".

"And one time is enough to get you killed, my dear lady".

"Likewise, do you really think that after your behavior this morning we would reward you?".

"I'll have the protection of you two, or are you saying that you're incapable of keeping me safe?" you replied with a growing smirk on your face.

Both of the brothers' eyes twitched and you knew their egos couldn't back down to the challenge you just made. Smirking at their growing faces of irritation, you walked forward and down the hall to the castle entrance doors with the brothers following behind you.
