*Niall’s POV*

I shifted sideways in my bed, snuggling up to her. And then I paused. My entire body tensed as reality hit me in the face.

I scrambled to my feet, looking down to see my Irish boxers and gray socks on my feet. Holding back an obnoxious scream, I lightly reached over and tapped her shoulder, trying to balance myself so I wouldn’t fall on top of the poor girl.

“Hey,” I whispered. “Hey, wake up.”

She stirred and a low groan escaped from her lips before her body grew motionless again. I let out a frustrated sigh and decided to just let her sleep and ask questions later. Running my fingers through my hair, I tried to remember as much as I could, but nothing was coming to mind. I snatched a pair of sweatpants and tugged them on, and left her alone.

I shuffled down the stairs, heading for the kitchen when I heard a sound. I followed the sound to see that my radio had been left on all night. Chuckling to myself, I switched it off and continued my way to my own kitchen. Maybe some food could help calm my nerves.

But I stopped once again when I noticed an empty coffee cup resting on the table. My hand reached out for it, and the second that my cold fingers tapped the cup, everything flooded back into my mind like a tidal wave. I forced myself to blink while I remembered the night before, or as much of it as I could.

Out of anger, my hand crushed the cup and I refused to remain clueless any longer. Allowing the crushed cup to fall from my grip, I marched back up the stairs, aggressively throwing the door open. The sound of my footsteps and the door bouncing off of the wall must have woke her, because she instantly flew from the bed, dragging the covers along with her.

“What happened?” I shouted, a little more rudely than I had intended.

She was breathing heavily and I watched as she hugged the blanket, her eyes wide open. “What?” She looked just as confused as I was.

“Last night…” I was frantic. But I needed to know. I would never be able to forgive myself if I had taken advantage of this girl last night without even remembering. “Please, don’t you remember anything?”

She shook her head and bit her lip. She looked a bit fearful, but her expression softened when she spoke again. “But I know, ya know, um, we didn’t do what you think we did…” She tried to explain, without looking at me.

There she was again. Innocent and alone, just the way she was when I found her. The fear in her eyes was obvious and I was already thinking of a way to comfort her again.

I nodded, inhaling a deep and relieved breath. “Can I get you something? Are you hungry?”

And then four little words fell from her lips. Four little words that I never wanted to hear, even if I barely knew this girl.

“I want to leave,” She whispered, as if she couldn’t believe that she was saying it, either.
