Not Leaving Yet

The sunlight poured in through the window, casting a sweet morning glow over the hotel room. You slowly blinked your eyes open with a yawn. A content smile spread across your lips as you took sight of the figure beside you. With the blanket just draped over Niall’s fragile body, you watched as his back rose and fell as he breathed, sleeping on his stomach. His head was turned away from you, and his limbs were sort of sprawled across the bed that you shared with him. He looked quite comfortable and you knew that sleep was always very precious to Niall, especially now with the business that he was in. You didn’t want to wake him, so you snuck out of bed.

You were able to brush your teeth and slide into an outfit for the day, all without waking him. Your suitcase was almost entirely packed, aside from a few little things that were scattered around the hotel room. After gathering everything and then checking to make sure that you weren’t forgetting anything, you grabbed a napkin and a pen, and wrote out a little message for Niall:

Good morning, honey bun sugar muffin cupcake…um…I don’t really know where I was going with that one haha sorry :)

Anyway, how did you sleep? Good, I assume. I think you were snoring a little ;)

Niall, you looked so peaceful and it would just break my heart to have to wake you up. I can’t do that to you—you get so little sleep as it is. Whenever you read this, send me a text or call me so that I know you got it, okay? I love you tons and I’ll see you soon, you know that. Since I won’t be there to give you a good-morning kiss, I’ll leave one on this note for you. Okay bye <3

You lightly pecked the napkin and then set it down on the table beside the bed, right next to Niall’s phone, so it wouldn’t be possible for him to miss it. You tugged your coat on and grabbed your suitcase. Before leaving, you stopped in the doorway of the room and took one last long look at Niall. You knew it would probably be a few months until you would see him again. Only a few tears slipped out as you quickly blew him a kiss and then shut the door after you. You sucked in a sharp breath and promised not to cry too much as you made your way through the halls of the hotel.

You were in the midst of crossing the lobby when you heard your name. You stopped in your spot and spun around to see Niall running after you in only his boxers, the same thing he fell asleep in. Every single person in that lobby was staring, but that didn’t bother you any. “(Y/N)! Baby, wait!” He shouted. He stumbled over his own feet as he hurried to you.

You giggled and set your suitcase down while he stopped in front of you. He bent over to catch his breath, and you patiently waited until he stood up again. “I’ve never ran that fast in my life,” He explained while inhaling another deep breath.

“You good now?” You asked with another laugh.

Niall nodded and stood with his hands on his hips. He waved to the people that were still staring, causing them to finally look away. He turned his attention back to you, and clicked his tongue as his eyes scanned over you. “Where exactly are you going?” He asked.

“Home,” You said, dropping your eyes to the floor. “Did you read my note? I, uh, I didn’t want to wake you up.”

“Yeah, I read your note. It was cute,” He told you with a wink.

You squealed as Niall unexpectedly lifted you into his arms, again earning glares from everyone in the lobby. “I don’t recall telling you that you could leave me this early. At least stay a couple more days. I can’t be happy unless you’re with me,” He whispered into your ear as he grabbed your suitcase and managed to carry that and you at the same time. He took you back down the hallways until you were at his room, where he unlocked the door and set you down on your feet. He put your suitcase down and lightly kicked the door shut behind him.

He guided you back to the bed, where you spent the rest of the morning tangled up in each other and talking in a whisper about anything that came to mind.
