You let out a heavy sigh and picked up your phone. You dialed Niall’s number- one you’ve had memorized since you started dating him years ago. Bringing the phone to your ear, you nibbled on your bottom lip until Niall’s happy voice picked up.
“What’s up, girlie?” He said into the phone, and a tiny smile tugged at your lips.
“Are you busy?” You asked right away, crossing your fingers as you waited for his answer.
“Not if you need me. What’s goin’ on?” He said. He knew something wasn’t right, and he knew it just by the way you spoke. But that’s the kind of relationship that you and Niall shared. You knew every little detail about each other, so much so that you were already passed the stage of finishing each other’s sentences.
“I’m not having the best day. If you’re not busy I’d love for you to come-” You started, but were interrupted by Niall’s excited voice.
“I’ll be there in a few,” He said before hanging up. You dropped your phone with the slightest smile on your face.
You patiently busied yourself with staring out the window until you saw his car pull up to your house. You watched while he hurried to your door, wearing an oversized hoodie and sweatpants. He had his guitar in one hand and a plastic grocery bag in the other. You smiled again and ran for the door to meet him there. You swung the door open just as he stepped up to it, and you were met with his cheerful grin.
You stepped aside and allowed him space to come inside, where he kicked off his shoes and set his stuff down. After closing the door behind him, you turned around and were instantly pulled into a hug. Niall wrapped his arms around you and rested his chin on top of your head. He swayed with you in his arms and softly hummed a little tune. He knew that the one thing you really wanted was to be close to him. You nuzzled your face into his chest, feeling his warmth surround you. He rubbed soothing circles into your back and squeezed you as close as possible.
When he finally let you go, he slid his hands down your arms until his fingers intertwined with yours and he pressed a kiss to your forehead. He smiled down at you and whispered, “You okay?”
He massaged the palm of your hand with his thumb while you said, “Yeah, I’m okay. I just wanted to be with you. Thanks for coming, by the way.”
Niall bent down and placed his arm behind your knees, sweeping you off of your feet and into his arms. He carried you bridal-style into your living room, where he gently dropped you down on the couch. He grabbed his guitar and the bag before plopping down next to you. He rested his guitar on his lap and turned to you, saying, “I have a song for you. A special one. Wrote it myself.”
You sat with your knees hugged to your chest, and your eyes twinkled with anticipation. He sang to you a lot, because it calmed you, but he never wrote a song specifically for you before. You watched while he placed his fingers on the strings of his guitar and began to softly pluck them. He glanced over at you and winked before he opened his mouth and sweetly sang to you:
“My dear (Y/N)
You know I love you, you know I love you, I do
And nothing in the world can separate us two
You make me happy, you give me life
So I really want you to be my wife
I want to love you the best I can
I want to give you all I have
With you, I want to spend forever
And every day, it’ll only get better
You know I love you, you know I love you, I do
Make my life complete and say you love me too”
By the time he sung the last word and gave his guitar a final strum, you were a crying mess. You wiped at your eyes, trying desperately to hold yourself together long enough to say something. He set his guitar down just in time to welcome you in his arms again as you launched yourself at him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the prettiest little ring, offering it to you.
“Will you marry me, (Y/N)?” He whispered, holding you close with an arm wrapped around you. You squealed and nodded excitedly, and he chuckled before sliding the ring on your finger. He took that hand in his and brought it to his lips, pressing a delicate kiss to it. Niall examined the ring on your finger and said, “It looks absolutely beautiful on you, angel.”
You were still speechless and you felt as if all you could do was smile. You cuddled as close to him as possible and he let out a content sigh. “You know,” He started, “I brought some chocolate with me…”
You giggled and reached up to plant a kiss on his lips before saying, “I love you, Niall.”
**I know I probably shouldn’t say this since I’m the one who wrote it, but I really love this imagine. And the best part is that it seems so realistic to me. Like I can actually picture Niall doing this.**
