Once we got inside the restaurant everyone started eating. I was starving, I didn't eat anything before we left the hotel. I had to give a speech while everyone ate and I was nervous, I poured my heart out into this speech and cried trying to write it. My uncle came over to me and told me it was time to give my speech so I got up, grabbed a microphone, and stood in the middle of the room.

"Um, can I have everyone's attention please" Everyone stopped their conversation to look at me and I thought 'It's now or never'

"We are gathered here today to mourn the death of Joseph Thomas Lambert. My grandpa, and your dad, or cousin was a wonderful man. Went to church every Sunday with all 10 of his kids and his beautiful wife. He served in the army. He was a strong, brave, funny, and caring man and words cannot explain how much he made me happy. When I was young and I would come over to their house which was not so often, he would make up pancakes or crepes, and me being the stubborn girl I was didn't want to eat them because they had fruit and whipped cream on them. He would tell the funniest jokes that would make everyone in the room laugh, my favorite one is with a guy and a snail, and it goes like this. So the snail knocks on a man's door and says 'Hi' but the man picks up the snail and throws it as hard as he can. Three years later the snail came back and said 'Why did you do that?'." Everyone in the room laughed.

"My grandpa fought a lot, but he was tired we could all tell that it was time. And one day he decided he didn't want to fight this time because he knew what wasn't going to come out of this. I can go on and on about how wonderful he was, but that would take too much time. All I want to say is thank you, everyone, who has supported me in my life and his. I probably couldn't get through most stuff without you all. Thank you all so much I love you all. And I hope you have a good day. Thank you!" I turned off the mic and everyone was crying and clapping.

I walked over to Tanner and he gave me a huge hug.

"That was an amazing speech, Mia"

"Thanks" I pulled back and he kissed me on the forehead and I smiled. He was only a bit taller. I walked back to our table so other people could say their speeches. Soon enough the lunch was over and everyone went home. Tanner and I decided to go to the beach or the pier. When we got there we played some arcade games and went on some rides. The sun started to set after a couple of hours spent at the pier so we both stopped to look at the sunset. I had brought my Polaroid camera and took pictures at the sunset. When I was done I put my head on Tanner's shoulder and we just stood there looking at the waves crash.

"I'm so lucky to be here right now," Tanner said,

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"Well, I'm looking at two beautiful things. Guess what they are" He smiled

"The waves, and the sunset?"

"No. You and you" I chuckled.

"You're so cheesy" We both laughed together

"I know" He moved so we were closer to each other.

"Mia there's something I want to ask you" He looked slightly nervous.

"What?" He pulled a long black box out of his pocket.

"Will you be my girlfriend" He opened the box and inside was the locket Tanner and I got when we were younger. It's in two halves and my half broke a long time ago but he fixed it. I started crying tears of joy and said.

"Yes of course" He smiled and moved my hair to put the locket around my neck. Once he put it on we hugged. I pulled away and kissed him and we just stayed there for a few minutes. I didn't want to ruin this perfect moment.

We were finally boyfriend and girlfriend
