Nevaeh's 1st Birthday

Mia's POV

I woke up with a smile plastered on my face.

Why you may ask?

Because today marks one year that mine and Tanner's beautiful baby girl entered the world.

A part of me is happy and excited about her party and everyone coming to it, but the other half of me is sad because my baby girl is growing up so fast.

I turned onto my other side to come face to face with Tanner. I smiled softly, and kissed his nose, causing him to wake up "What's up babe?" He asked, his voice raspy from sleep "Guess what day it is" Tanner smiled, but his eyes were still closed "Its our baby girl's birthday, how could I forget?" Tanner opened his eyes "I love waking up to the sight of your beautiful face" I laughed and kissed his lips "Cheesy. Now come on, let's wake up our little princess" We both got out of bed, and walked to Nevaeh's room. I opened the door slowly so that I wouldn't wake her up, and we both walked to her crib. She was sleeping soundly in her cute onesie which made her look more adorable. I stroked her little cheek, and she started to wake up. Once her eyes were fully open, me and Tanner smiled "Happy birthday peanut!" I gently picked her up out of her crib, and held her. She gave me and Tanner a toothless smile, and she giggled a bit "At least she isn't cranky" Tanner said "Yup, we wouldn't want her to miss out on all the fun we have planned for her" "Speaking of which, I have to go pick up the cake and some other things, so I'm going to get dressed and head out okay?" Tanner said "Sounds good" Tanner kissed my cheek, and then Nevaeh's forehead "Happy birthday my angel" He said before leaving her room "Well, it's just you and me kid until your daddy gets home, what should we do?" She made some weird noises with her mouth "How about we both get dressed huh?"

I dressed Nevaeh up in this cute shirt that said 'It's my first birthday' in rainbow sparkles, and she has a blue skirt on "My my, don't you look like a princess!" I got changed into a nice long blue sundress, while Tanner wore some shorts and a blue shirt. The theme was blue considering for some reason Nevaeh liked the color blue. I know it sounds weird, but she only likes the clothes that are blue, that's why we changed the color of her room to a nice ocean blue, and put different pillows and blankets that are blue in her crib, I think she gets it from me. Everyone was outside in the backyard, while me, Tanner, and Nevaeh were getting ready. I walked out into the living room, and Tanner was fixing the collar on his shirt. I placed Nevaeh by her toys and walked over to him "Here let me" He stopped playing with his collar, and I fixed it for him "Thank you my lady" "You're welcome good sir" I picked Nevaeh up, and me and Tanner walked to the back door. He held my free hand, and opened the door. When we both walked out everyone clapped and cheered "Look Angel, they're all here for you!" Nevaeh moved her arms around and squealed happily, me and Tanner both laughed "Let's get this party started!" Tanner yelled.

While my family was taking turns holding Nevaeh, me and Tanner were talking to Jake and Elissa. I was looking at Elissa's dress when I realized something sparkle on her hand "Um Elissa? Is that what I think it is?" She smiled and held up her left hand. There resting around her ring finger was a beautiful diamond ring. I smiled widely and gave her a big hug "Oh my god, I'm so happy for you two" I gave Jake a hug too "We were planning on telling you after the party, but you're too observant" "Bad habit, sorry" Tanner put his arm around my waist and whispered in my ear "It's time for the cake" My mouth was shaped in a "o" and we excused ourselves from Jake and Elissa. I went inside and grabbed Nevaeh's little cake, while Tanner put her in her high chair. I put a candle in it, her cake was a chocolate cake with blue frosting, and flower sprinkles on it. Everyone was gathered around Nevaeh and Tanner, and that was my cue to go outside. Once I got outside, everyone started singing happy birthday.

I place the cake on the table connected to her high chair, and she was staring at it "I think she's afraid of it" "Of maybe she saw her mothers face, and she can't comprehend how beautiful she is" Tanner said while giving me a cheeky smile "Stop" I said playfully. I light the candle, and Nevaeh smiled a bit "Happy birthday my angel!" I said while kissing her forehead "Let's blow out the candle on the count of three" Tanner said. We were on both sides of Nevaeh and I counted down "1.....2.....3" Me and Tanner both blew out the candle, and everyone cheered. I took the candle out of her cake, and we all waited for her to make a move on the cake. She reached out her hands, and took a decent chunk out of the cake. She looked at me with a cute, but curious look on what to do next. I took a piece off her cake, and slowly put it in my mouth, showing her she can eat it. She put the cake in her mouth, and the frosting was all over her tiny face "Awwww" I cooed. I took my phone out, and told Tanner what to do. We were both going to kiss Nevaeh's cheek while she has the frosting on her face. I went to the camera app, and pointed it towards us "Say hi to the camera angel" She only looked at her reflection, but I took the picture anyway.

After the party was over, and Nevaeh was put to bed, I posted the picture of me, Tanner, and Nevaeh.
