Mia's POV

She's gotten worse.

She's gotten weaker, her hair has almost completely fallen out, she's been throwing up a lot, not being able to keep food down. She's too weak to move, so we've gotten a nurse to come to her house, and give her the cemo therapy.

I feel so bad for her, she's trying so hard, but I know she's in pain. She hasn't held the baby in awhile. It's been 3 weeks since she told me, and I'm afraid she doesn't have enough time left.

As I sat on the couch, with Nevaeh in my arms, I tried to think of something so I could tone out hearing my aunt puking her guts out, while my uncle tries to keep her calm. I can't do this, I can't bare to see her in pain. Tears blurred my vision, and I held onto Nevaeh tighter. I heard the front door open, and I immediately looked to see who it was. Tanner was standing in the doorway, taking off his coat "Baby you alright?" He put his coat on the hook, and walked over to me "I can't do this Tanner, I just want her to be at peace, and not in pain!" Tanner sat next to me on the couch, and gave me a hug, careful to not squish Nevaeh "I know love, I know, hopefully it'll get better, at least she's with the people she loves" I scoffed "Yeah, and she never sees the person she wants to see most" I said talking about Nevaeh "I know" Tanner kissed my on the forehead, and continued to sit next to me. Nevaeh yawned, and I was about to get up, and put her in her crib, but Tanner's arm stopped me "I got this, don't worry" He took Nevaeh out of my arms, and walked towards her room. I laid back against the couch and sighed.

Tanner's POV

I gently put Nevaeh in her crib, and I just looked at her. She's much bigger now, and every part of me wants her to stay small, and never grow up. I kissed her tiny forehead, and walked out of her room, and into the hallway. I looked into the guest room, to see Lucy laying in her bed, staring out the window. She looks miserable. I just wish she'll get better, but I know it's far too late. I walked into her room, and knocked on the door. She turned her head, and gave me a weak smile "Hello Tanner, how's life outside this room?" I chuckled "It's been okay. Mia is a little down and everything, I'm trying hard to stay positive, but it's just so hard when they're is nothing you can do" She looked down, and smiled "I know how you feel. How's little Nevaeh?" I smiled at the thought of her "She's dong great, growing a little to fast for my liking, but I can't control her" Her breathing was very short "Tanner, I'm afraid I don't have much time left. I think it might be time for me to leave" Tears started to cloud my vision "I'll go get Mia and everyone else" She nodded, and turned her head back to the window. I walked down the hall, and into the living room to see her uncle in the kitchen, and Mia laying back on the couch "Um, guys" They both turned their attention to me. I took a deep, shaky breath, and said those two dreaded words, I never want to say ever again.

"It's time"

Mia looked down at her lap, while her uncle just stared at me "A-are you sure?" "Her breathing, it isn't strong. She's way too weak. When is her nurse coming?" "Any minute now" I nodded my head, and walked over to Mia, who was still in the same place. I put my hand on her cheek, and pulled her to my chest "You know, once she's gone, she'll be in peace, she won't be in any pain, just like you've always wanted" She nodded her head, and started to get up "Ill go get Nevaeh" She said in a weak voice. I nodded my head, and she walked away.

We were all in the guest room, waiting for the nurse to say something. Once she was done checking her blood pressure, she bit her lip "Well, she is definitely having short breathes, her heart isn't pumping enough blood. I'm afraid she is dying" Mia gasped, and held onto my hand tighter "It's just a matter of time, but she doesn't seem to have much of that. I leave you all alone with her" The nurse smiled weakly, and grabbed her things. She opened the bedroom door, and walked out. Her uncle walked over to her aunt, and started saying his last words to her.

Mia let Lucy hold Nevaeh for the last. She held onto her aunt, and whispered her last words to her loving aunt. By the time she stopped talking, both of them were in tears. Mia kissed Lucy's forehead, and walked to the corner of the room with Nevaeh "And then there was one" She laughed weakly. I smiled at her, and held her cold hand "Thank you so much for letting me marry your niece, and for giving me the ring. I want to thank you also for taking care of Mia when she needed you most, it wasn't just me that helped her, it was you, and I want you to know that we'll never forget that. You're like a second mom to me, and I'm sorry that I hurt your niece a few times. And I am so happy that Mia had you in her life, you're an amazing aunt, and person, and we'll never forget about you. We love you so much" Now I was in tears "T-hank you Tanner" I smiled, and gave her a small hug.

We all stood around her, waiting for it to come. We put Nevaeh to bed because she was starting to fuss, and now it was just me, Mia, and her uncle. Her aunts breath hitched quite a lot, and she slowly closed her eyes. Mia put her face in the crook of my neck, and I held her. I watched as her aunt took her last breath before she stopped. Mia walked out of the room, and into our bedroom. I excused myself from her uncle, and ran to our room. I found her sitting on the bed, crying her eyes out. I walked over to her, and embraced her "Hey, at least she's at peace right? She never wanted this to happen. And I know that she doesn't want you to grieve for too long, not matter how horrible it is, she would want you to stay strong. Now heaven has a new angel, an amazing angel"
