Mia's POV

Last night Hailey had to go back home because her mom missed her. So did Peyton but I still want to kick his ass for hurting Hailey, I hope he doesn't mess it up. My dad is coming home from a very long "Business trip" and I'm dreading it. The house has to be spotless and there has to be beer in the fridge or else he'll beat me. I still haven't told Tanner because my dad is barely home anyway so it doesn't happen often. I miss my mom and my brother, I honestly don't know if they're alive to be honest, I hope they are because once I finally get out of this hell hole I want to find them! I told Tanner I wanted to spend time with me dad and that I'll text him if I need anything. He was hesitant but he said okay anyway. Right now I'm in my room on my phone waiting for my dad. All the sudden I hear the door open and close and I walk down the stairs "Welcome Home Dad!" I said with a smile "Thanks" He said plainly. He walked past me and went straight for the fridge "Did you have any alcohol" "No sir. I honestly never want to" "Good to hear" He pulled out a bottle, opened the cap, and drank "Ill be upstairs if you need me, I need to take a shower" "Don't take too long!" I nodded and walked upstairs. I wasn't really going in the shower, if I said I was going up to my room to do nothing but go on my phone my dad would kill me, so now I have to turn on the shower and wait in the bathroom, just in case he comes in my room. I walk into my bathroom and turned on the shower, and sat on the toilet, and played on my phone. I usually take 15 minute showers so I have a timer to tell me when 15 minutes are up.

What seemed like forever, the timer went off and I turned it off quickly and put water in my hair so it seemed like I did shower, I turned it off and then I heard my dad call my name from downstairs. I grabbed a towel for my hair and I walk downstairs "Yes dad?" "Get me another beer. And what's for dinner" "Um you pick I'm fine with anything. I'll get you a beer" I put my towel in the dryer and run to the fridge to get a beer "I want chicken wings" He said "Sounds good! Want me to make them or order" "No. You suck at cooking, order" I grabbed a beer and said "Here you go. I'm gonna get my phone and order. Do you want barbecue wings?" "Yeah" "Okay be right back" I have him to much. 1 more year Mia, 1 more year I keep telling myself. I grab my phone and order from this really good place downtown "I ordered the food! It'll be here in less than 25 minutes!" I yell to my dad. He didn't respond so he's probably passed out on the couch.

The food came and I ordered a salad because if I ordered anything fat my dad would call me fat. What a dick! I know. I was in my room when my dad yelled my name "Be there in a sec! Cleaning my room!" I called Tanner and told him to come over in 8 minutes because I missed him. I put my phone under a pillow and walked downstairs "Yes dad?" I asked, he grabbed my arm hard and started screaming at me "YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT. IM SO SICK OF YOU! YOU WERE A MISTAKE I DONT KNOW WHY I EVEN WANTED KIDS" Then he punched my. Hard. In my stomach. I fell to the ground and coughed up blood. He started to kick me until he stopped. He ran to his room and I just laid there not doing anything, I was scared to. He came back down but something was behind his back. He showed me what was behind his back.

A gun.

I started to feel the tears coming. You're dead. You are so dead Mia. I was starting to face the truth. My dad never loved me, because if he still did he wouldn't do this "Dad please. You don't have to do this" I said weakly. I grabbed my stomach in pain "Yes I do" He said back. He pointed the gun at me and I stood up against the wall waiting for lights out. Just as he was about to pull the trigger the front door opened. Tanner. He has a key. Thank god. I don't want to die, not in the hands of my father "What the hell is going on?!" Tanner said "This is none of your business kid! Now get the hell out of here, I have some business to take care of!" He screamed back "Sir please don't. She's your daughter for gods sake! Your blood. What has she ever done to you!" My dad looked at Tanner then me, then back to Tanner "Boy. You just made the wrong choice talking back to me"

Tanner's POV

I stared at Mia's dad wondering what he meant. He quickly moved the gun and pulled the trigger. Then a sudden pain shot through my chest. He shot me. "NOOOOOO! WHAT THE HELL DAD WHAT DID I DO TO YOU!" I fell to the floor. My visions was blurry and I was loosing blood. Fast. Mia grabbed the gun and hit her dad right in the head knocking him out cold. She dropped the gun and ran over to me "Tanner. Please stay awake. Please don't leave me" I knew I was dead meat "I-i l-love you s-so much M-Mia" "Tanner stop. You're going to live!" She grabbed her phone and called 911 "Yes. I need help. My boyfriend just got shot by my dad. My dad is unconscious right now. Pleas send police to take him away. He's beaten me and threatened to kill me. Please send help!" She started crying and my eyelids started to feel heavy. She ran to the kitchen and grabbed a towel, she ran back over to me and put pressure on where I was shot "I'm not letting you go. I can't loose anyone else got that!" "Mia" I put my hand on her cheek "You know I'm not going to live through this. Please stop it's only gonna hurt more" "No Tanner. I'm not giving up. I can't lose you!" My eye lids felt really heavy it was hard to get them open "NO TANNER PLEASE. DONT CLOSE YOUR EYES. STAY WITH ME!!!" "I love you so much Mia. Don't ever think I would regret it, I love y-ou" I started to feel myself pass out. I was dying. I'm gonna die. There's nothing I could do about it.

I just want to kiss her one last time.

Mia's POV

"Tanner!" I shook him, he didn't wake up "Tanner wake up! Don't die on me. No! Keep your eyes open!" I started to her sirens. I started crying. I grabbed his wrist checking for a pulse. I felt little bumps. He was still alive but not do long "Please Tanner. I just wanted one last kiss" Police men came rushing in and so did paramedics. They told me to move away. I did and they grabbed a stretcher and laid Tanner on it. He was pale and looked lifeless "LETS GO. HE MAY NOT BE ALIVE FOR MUCH LONGER!" He may not be alive for much longer. Those words stabbed my heart. I fell to the floor and started to uncontrollably cry. I got up and ran to the ambulance "Can I please come" "Get in" I got into the ambulance and grabbed Tanner's hand

"Promise me you want die! Please!!"

He didn't promise back.
