A New Baby Cousin

Mia's POV

It's freaking 3 am in the morning and someone is calling me.

Seriously?

It better be important. I groaned and moved away from Tanner. We fell asleep together watching a movie. I turned on my bedside lamp and grabbed my phone. I looked at the caller I.D and it was my cousin Denise. I accepted the call.

Hey Denise what's up?

Hey, sorry for waking you up, I know it's like 3 am where you live but, I was just calling to say that Grace had her baby!

Oh my god? Really! Is it a boy or a girl?

It's a girl! And um everyone was wondering if you wanted to come and see her?

Um, I don't know, I would probably have to leave today in order to get a flight, and I don't know how long I'll be able to stay.

Okay, well just call me if you can come, everyone's been asking.

I'll try my best.

Okay, well I'll talk to you soon, love you!

Love you too.

I hung up and Tanner turned around to face me "Who was that?" He voice was raspy for sleep "That was my cousin Denise, my cousin Grace had a baby girl" "Aw that's so cool! Are you gonna go back to New Jersey?" I sighed "I don't know, I mean like, I have work and stuff and I want to stay there for as long as I can, so I don't know" "Then why don't you go today?" "I guess. But then I have to go through all the stress of getting a ticket, packet, getting to the airport on time." Tanner grabbed my hand and said "Then how about this, I'll worry about the tickets, while you pack?" I smiled at him "You would do that?" "Of course" "Wait why did you say tickets?" "Because I want to go with you, I don't want you to go all alone" "Aw, you're being an overprotective boyfriend, just kidding, okay well how about I pack, your things and my things?" "Perfect!" I laughed and kissed him on the lips, then jumped off the bed.

I finally got our stuff packed and Tanner got us tickets, so now we are on our way to the airport. I placed my head on Tanner's shoulder and I slowly felt my eyelids close, and before I knew it, I fell asleep. I woke up to Tanner poking me saying we were at the airport. I smiled at him and paid the uber driver. We got our bags and went inside the airport. We went through security, got our tickets, and we are in a line, waiting to board our plane. Tanner intertwined our hands and said "Are you excited?" "Very, I can't wait to meet my baby cousin, and I haven't seen my family in forever" "Do you want to know something?" "What?" "In two more days, it'll be the anniversary of when we first kissed, and we are going to be in the same place we had our first kiss" I smiled when I remembered our first kiss "Were you nervous to tell me?" He nodded "But that day I really realized how much I liked it and wanted to be with you, and I sort of had a feeling you wouldn't reject me" He smiled to himself "Aw" I kissed him on the cheek.

We finally got onto the plane, and I got the window seat. I got my phone and earphones out of my backpack and played my music. I rested my head on Tanner's shoulder and said "I'm gonna try and sleep. I love you!" Tanner smiled "I love you more" I chuckled and slowly drifted to sleep. I woke up when we finally landed and I looked up to see Tanner asleep to I poked his cheek and said "Tanner, wake up, we're here!" He opened his eyes and said "Ya!" I chucked and put my stuff back into my backpack. Me and Tanner walked hand in hand to the baggage claim and got our bags. We got an uber, and we were staying at my grandmas house.

We finally got to my grandmas house. I greeted her with a big hug and me and Tanner put out bags in the guest room of her house. We grabbed our phones and wallets, and I grabbed my blogging camera. We were driving my grandmas car. We got into her car and Tanner was driving, and I started recording "What is up my awesome peeps! So today's video isn't me singing or doing random crap. But today is a vlog! I know weird, so today at 3 am I got a call from one of my cousin, tell me my cousin had a baby girl. And as you guys know, I live in California, and my family lives in New Jersey. So at 3 in the morning Tanner had to book tickets, I had to pack for the both of us, and we both needed to get our asses ready. So right now we are driving to the hospital to meet my new baby cousin! I will definitely record when I am there so I'll talk to you guys later!" I stopped recording and I put my camera back into my bag. We finally got to the hospital and we are walking to my cousin room, I knocked on the door and I heard many people talked. My cousin Denise had opened the door and she engulfed me in a huge hug. Everyone greeted me, and Introduced them to Tanner, which he looked very uncomfortable. And when I saw my baby cousin I was in awe. She was beautiful! I walked to my cousin Grace who was holding her baby and said "Hey! How are you feeling?" "Better than I expected. This is Leah Marie" "Awww she's beautiful. Can I hold her?" "Of course" She slowly handed me Leah, and carefully held her in my arms. I turned around to see Tanner filming me and all of my family taking picture. I looked down at Leah and she was sleeping soundly, I smiled at her. I really love babies, I just really wish I could have them. I started to get tears in my eyes and I just played them off as joyful tears "She's so beautiful!" I said to the camera. Tanner walked over to me and pointed the camera at Leah "She really is" Tanner put down the camera and whispered in my ear "Are you okay?" I turned to him and said "I'll tell you later", he nodded. An idea popped into my head and I asked Tanner "Do you want to hold her?" His eyes widened, he looked surprise "Really? Well- I- is it okay?" He asked my cousin Grace "Of course Tanner" She smiled at him. He smiled and turned to me. I slowly placed Leah in his arms and said "Cradle her head so her head isn't hanging back" Tanner nodded. He moved his arms so that her head was cradled. He smiled when he finally got the hang of it "Wow, she's really small" I laughed at how cute he was being. I grabbed his phone and took a picture of his smiling at Leah. As he was holding her she woke up and her eyes slowly opened and looked at Tanner "Woah, her eyes are, oh my god she's so cute!" Everyone laughed and I grabbed my camera and started recording. I walked over to Tanner and said "How do you feel?" He laughed "I feel like a dad for some reason" I chuckled, I turned to my cousin "How much longer do you have to stay in the hospital?" "Not that much longer, hopefully. I just want to bring her home" "Ha, I think Tanner might come with you" She chuckled "Well you guys can come over whenever your here!" I turned to Tanner and he was just staring at her, I smiled. He really looked like a dad, he was so happy to see a baby.

We stayed at the hospital for a few more hours talking with everyone, laughing, holding the baby. She was literally be passed around from person to person. It was time for me and Tanner to leave because we were really tired. So we said goodbye to everyone and walked back to my grandmas car. As we were driving back to my grandmas house Tanner said "Why were you crying before?" I shrugged "I don't know, just seeing a baby, really makes me want a baby. But I know I can't, and that just makes me sad. And you looked so happy to see a baby, and I know you would like to have one too but I can't give you a baby!" I looked over our the window. Tears threatened to spill. Tanner used his free hand to grab mine he started to talk "Hey it's okay, alright, just because you can't have children, doesn't mean it ruins our future. Like I said at the hospital, we can adopt Mia. Give a child a home, and make them feel loved. Before we go back to your grandmas I want to take you somewhere so we can talk. Just hold on okay?" I turned over to him and nodded.

I don't know how he found an empty field, but he did. We got out the car and he grabbed my hand and we walked into the empty field. Once we found a nice place to sit, we both sat down. He grabbed my hands and looked me straight in the eye and said "Seeing Leah today did make me want a baby, and I know you felt the same. And I know that it's sad because we can't, but Mia, just because we can't have one doesn't mean we'll never take care of children. You know how when people get pregnant on accident and can't take care of a baby, so then they give it to a family who can't have children? That's what we can do. Or we can adopt! Mia I want our future to be with each other. And I'm starting to think, you think, that I'm going to leave you because you can have children. But Mia that's not the case. I'm staying with you no matter what, that's why you have that promise ring on your finger, and even without it I would still promise I'd be with you. You're the love of my life, and without you, I don't know who I would be. And I'm being serious. I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I promise one day that'll happen. I know we're only 17 and your turning 18 soon, and then I'll be 18 not that long after. We'll finally be adults and we can get engaged, and get married and live our lives the way we want to! And I'm not letting this get in the way. We'll find a way okay, we'll find a way" (btw when I put we'll find a way, I thought of the Drake & Josh theme song) At this point I had tears in my eyes. He's right. I smiled and jumped up and tackled him in a huge hug. He laughed and wrapped his arms around my waist. He sat up, and then stood up with my arms still around his neck, and his around my waist. "I love you so freaking much" I said into his neck "I love you much more" He pulled me back a little by to look at me "I'd promised I would stay with you, and I'm not breaking that promise" I smiled and kissed him passionately on the lips.
