As I lay there, I had a feeling that more time was passing than I realized. I couldn't remember how long it had been since the last time we were together. Why did time have a habit of moving so quickly at times when I wished it wouldn't? It had already been two days since I'd last seen Jahseh and those two days were full of agony.
I craved to be able to see him, even if it was just a simple nod of the head, or just passing by and meeting his eyes...it would be enough for me.
"Flor focus a bit into the camera." Mr. Hasakawa tells me pulling me away from my thoughts.
I'd completely forgotten I was at the photo shoot and had invested my thoughts elsewhere. Collecting myself I do as he says, I hear the clicking of his camera as I stare into the lens, but suddenly he stopped.
"Flor." He calls my name.
I lift myself up by the elbows. "Yes?"
"You don't have the emotion I'm looking for." He states bluntly. "You need to have that look." Mr. Hasakawa steps closer.
My body that was currently against the couch shifts. I was stiff in other words. It had been so long since the last time I had a photo shoot that I knew, of course, I'd be awkward. "I want to do more work with you." He pauses. "But I need to see the passion."
I swallow nodding. "Let's try something different." He sits back into his chair, the camera now in his lap. "I want you to think of something. Doesn't matter what...but it just needs to be some thing you want. Envision it. Look at me the way you would like at that."
I shook my head understanding. I needed to be confident. To prove to myself that I could do this. Listening to his words I quickly shut my eyes, thinking long and hard about it but my subconscious showed me what I truly wanted.
And without a doubt, it was him, X.
I imagined at first his awkward stares. The serious grim look on his face as his eyes took settled over the features of my face. The poetic way he spoke, the deep sounding of his voice and the way his eyes would look on me when I'd catch him staring. "Imagine you can have it, that it can be yours." I focused on his lips next, the way they curved into a smile when he said something devious or something that would catch me off guard.
My mind didn't stop there. It replayed the time's I spent cradled in his arms, whether he was carrying me or holding me altogether. I'd recall how he'd hold me against him as if he never wanted to let go. Instinctively I reached for the necklace on my neck and that was when I finally opened my eyes.
I could hear everyone's gasps at the sudden change in look but it must have been what Mr. Hasakawa wanted because he was snapping pictures like crazy. After several different poses, scenarios and makeup breaks we were finally done.
"Amazing." Mr. Hasakawa shakes my hand. "Truly one of the best."
I blush thanking him. "I want you to meet someone." He waves me after him as he takes the lead down the hall. Skeptical about it at first I figured I have no other choice and so I follow after him. We reach another shooting area that was also wrapping up. Makeup artists were packing up and so were the coordinators.
A few people were walking out as we walked in and someone ended up bumping into me. I turned and apologized at the same time he did. "Scar!" Mr. Hasakawa shouts.
Startled I jump. I turn back to look at Mr. Hasakawa whose looking past me. "Flor this is Scar, he has a name but he likes to go by Scar better." He points at the guy behind me. I turn back my eyes looking at this so called Scar person.
He'd already been looking at me. "Nice to meet you, Flor." He says in an accent.
"Nice to meet you too Scar," I replied.
He wore a breathing mask but oddly it suited him well. His eyes roamed over me from head to toe and back again. I tried pretending I didn't notice him watching me. "You two will be doing a project together." Mr. Hasakawa announced.
I smiled at him but inwardly panicked. I wasn't so sure I was ready to work with someone else especially a male partner. Scar doesn't seem to mind it much, "Cool, it's been a while since I've met a really pretty model." He says with a casual shrug.
My eyes widen and I look away, shielding the pink that starts to form in my cheeks. I heard him chuckle. "Well I have to go. See you around Flor."
I heard the sound of his footsteps retreat back the way we came from. My head turns back and stares at the direction he left through. "He's really handsome." I hear some of the staff say as they pass us by.
I sigh. "You and him look well together." I forgot Mr. Hasakawa was still here. I look at him as he starts scribbling into his journal. "I have a feeling about you two." He mumbles.
Shaking my head I already refused the idea. Sure Scar was handsome but I already had someone in mind...but that someone had a lover.
I headed over to change out of my clothes into what I had been wearing when I'd gotten here. I tried taking off as much of the makeup as possible but most of it stayed on. Frustrated I slammed my locker shut and pulled my long black hair into a pony tail and headed out back. Once outside I heard a few voices, my eyes scanned the parking lot where a really expensive car was and leaning against it was Scar.
He was saying bye to his friends in that way all guy's say bye to each other and hopped into his car. I wasn't sure he had seen me but once he pulls out the parking lot he takes off his mask as I reach the stoplight where he's at.
I gasp, looking at him now. He was beautiful. I'm not sure how he'd seen me but he had his eyes on me when he smiles. I freeze up still watching as he presses on the gas and releasing the break as he speeds off into the night.
