- short chapter ahead -
"Give him this." I tell Ski.
He takes the envelope from my hands. "Ask him to at least respond to texts, please?"
He nods, quiet. "You guys are always fighting." He says.
I avert my eyes. "There just misunderstandings." I whisper.
I stared at the house, knowing he was inside. He's been staying with Ski since that day.
But I still can't get the way he looked at me out of my head.
"He's being a pussy." Ski mutters.
With wide eyes I look at him. "Eh?"
He chuckles. "I wouldn't keep you waiting is what I meant."
I laugh lightly. "Well if he's in there, can you ask him to come? It's for the film, a press conference or something like that."
He nods. "Don't worry. I'll get this to him."
Ski pulls me in for a hug before turning back into the house.
I stayed a little bit longer after he had gone inside but eventually ended up walking back home.
I kept walking, clutching my phone wondering when he was finally going to call back or at least send me a text that he was okay.
I was so worried about him.
I wanted to tell him what I should have said on that day. But I had been so shocked by everything that I had seen to be able to process any thoughts.
I could hear pacing, no racing footsteps coming from behind me, turning halfway I was met abruptly by the sight of X in his usual shorts and of course shirtless.
He didn't stop running after me until he crashed against me, pulling me into his arms.
I wrapped my arms around him too. Holding him close to me. "I'm sorry." We say at the same time.
He breaks away first, holding my hand in his. "I didn't believe it." I tell him. "You aren't that, anything but that." I say.
"I didn't say anything at the moment because I was so shocked by how she looked. But I knew it was a setup, her friends tried jumping me."
"What?"
I press a finger against his lips. "But I'm fine. The less we intervene in her life the better we are."
He smiles, shaking his head. "Did you beat some ass?" He asks.
I laugh, nodding. He pulls me into his arms, twirling me. "Dam my girl whooped some ass!" He shouts as loud as he can for the neighbors to hear.
He sets me down. "Who taught you that?" He asks still laughing.
"Eh?" My smile fades.
That person.
The guy whose heart I broke, Scar.
If it hadn't been for Scar breaking it off...helping me choose...today would be so different.
I didn't deserve his kind heart and not a day goes by that I don't forget to pray for his kindness. That he could find a love that heals all his wounds. Someone who could fully love him, without any restrictions.
"Flor?" Jahseh gives me a cautious look.
I break away from my thoughts. " A friend." I say. "A friend taught me."
But something about the way he looks at me I can tell he doesn't but he doesn't press me for any more questions instead we continue to walk back to the house.
