A face to call home

Your heart ached in the best way as you looked at him, his eyes looking out at the ocean. His eyebrows were furrowed and his green eyes were so intent, his lips slightly parted.

"Whatcha thinking about?" You asked, his hair blowing slightly in the breeze, the scent of the water in the air. His hands were in his pockets, and he removed them to grab your hand.

"I get scared, sometimes. You see so many people fall in love, time and time again, and then they just drift apart. Promise me, promise me that won't happen to us?" He said, emotion in his voice and he turned towards you.

Your heart hurt at his words, relating your own fears to what he said. You grabbed his other hand, both of you standing and looking at each other as if you were at an alter getting married.

You looked up at his green eyes, so bright and full of wonder you couldn't comprehend how someone so beautifully complicated was real, and yours.

"I promise, I promise with all of my heart. Im so in love with you it hurts, I look at you everyday and wonder how your heart even found me, or why it wants me, but I feel so lucky and thankful to have you." You said, sincerity in your voice.

His eyes connected with yours, a glossy sheen in them. "I love you, with every fiber of my being. My heart chose you because you're the most inspiring, beautiful, kind person I know. I'm the lucky one." He said back, a smile appearing on his pink lips.

He opened his long arms, his loose white button up swaying in the wind as you embraced him, inhaling his familiar, wonderful scent. His arms wrapped around you and held you closely as the two of you looked out at the ocean, the sun shining against the water and reflecting rays of light off of it.

Your feet were on the warm sand and your head rested against his chest. You could hear the rhythmic sound of his heartbeat against your ear. This moment, this very moment made you feel so full of life and happiness you couldn't take it.

He was yours, he was the love of your life, and you were both here, right now, in a moment that felt surreal. "Do you remember our first date?" You heard his low voice say. You smiled, perking your head up and looking up at him.

"Yes, I remember how we were supposed to eat dinner but it was already closed when we got there, and you came up with the idea to go swimming, we went to a beach, not this one but we went to a beach. I kept wondering how in the hell I agreed to it, but we ended up swimming for hours." You said, a fond look in your eyes as you recalled the memory.

"And remember when something touched your foot and you screamed thinking it was a shark? You've never clung onto me harder." He said with a laugh, the sound like a song you never wanted to stop hearing.

"I'm scared of sharks!" You said defensively, placing your hands on his chest. "I know I know, I'm sorry." He said, his laughter dying down as he looked at you. "That was the night I fell in love with you." He admitted, a look of adoration in his eyes. He'd never told you that before, and ironically that was the night you fell in love with him also.

"That's the night I fell in love with you too." You said, honesty in your voice. His eyes sparkled and he looked so full of love, so did you. He cupped your cheeks softly, leaning down and pressing his warm lips to yours.

The act still made your heart flutter, and electricity move through you. You placed your arms around his neck, fiddling slightly with the strands of soft hair at the base of his neck.

The sound of the ocean was in the background, the waves crashing against each other. It was the perfect moment, so sweet and full of truth and love, this is what love felt like.

Love felt like two people, somewhere, with just each other and being completely content, completely happy.

You both softly broke apart, eyes fluttering open. He smiled, moving a piece of hair behind your ear and softly stroking your cheek. He was so incredibly beautiful. You looked up at his bright eyes, admiring his face.

You realized for a moment that there wasn't a thing you didn't adore about him. The scar on his cheek, his lips when they were slightly chapped, or his messy hair, you loved all of it. You loved everything about him inside and out.

He felt the same way, everything about you was so bright and stunning to him, he wouldn't change anything about you. The way your arms would wrap around him when you hugged him, the way you found comfort in his arms, made him love you even more.

"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." You said to him. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me too." He said back, both of you smiling like idiots, but not caring.

You realized that bill was so different, he was so honest and so full of sincerity and love, he loved you passionately and and fiercely with no inhibitions. He was everything you'd ever hoped for right in front of you. You could look into those green eyes once and feel home.
