My heart was beating out of my chest. I couldn't, it wasn't right. "J-Jeremy..." I whispered. "I...I can't, I'm sorry." I took off running in the opposite direction.
Jeremy shoved the velvet box with the diamond inside of it back into his pocket and ran after me. "Kirstin!"
"I'm sorry!" I turned to face him with tears pouring down my cheeks.
"Kirstin, Kirstin, can you please just explain?"
"I just--it's all--everything just came back so quickly, and trusting you, and I just I can't, I'm sorry." I continued running to wherever I thought I was going.
"Kirstin Taylor, I can admit, I've made mistakes, a couple of them actually, but I've changed, you've seen it."
"But how do I know you won't do it again? Just because you put a ring on my finger doesn't mean I can trust you as much as I did when we first got together. I still don't trust you completely, I'm sorry."
"Fine...fine..." He brought his hands up in surrender and backed up. "Fine."
And with that, we both took off in opposite directions.
I soon found my car and I quickly picked up my phone. My hands were shaking so badly that I could barely type out the text message.
To: Avi
- Are you home?
- Yeah, I am, what's going on?
- Can I come over please?
- Of course. Front door is unlocked.
- Thank you
- Anytime
I probably was breaking a few laws driving at the speed I was, but I needed to be loved. And where Avi was, I knew I could get just that.

"Hey, hey, come here, what's happened?" Avi asked as he answered his door.
"J-Jeremy proposed." I stated and he wrapped his arms around me as my tears picked up again.
"Why are you crying? That's amazing!"
"And I said no."
"Why? Why did you say no?"
"Because I don't trust him, Avi."
"Kirstie..." Avi tightened the hug.
"No, it's fine. I just...I gotta go see if I can house with Scott and Mitch. And--"
"Stay here!" Avi quickly jumped to a conclusion.
"What? Why? You couldn't possibly--"
"Because you trust me, don't you?"
I turned back around and looked at him. "I do."
