Typewriter Boy

He was a typewriter boy. He had eyes like daggers and a soul like the sun. He always sends texts at three a.m. of stupid videos saying things like "this reminded me of you". His hair is usually a mess, and he always has a tube of Chapstick on him at all times. He's a bit rough around the edges, and easily forgets the basic things. His smile can light up the night sky, even though he says that stars are overrated because he thinks she shines brighter than any star that any astronaut could ever touch.

His name was Avi Kaplan, and she was hopelessly in love with him.

"Good morning!" Kirstie walked into the rehearsal studios one early morning. It was just her and Avi that day, they were rehearsing for their duet they were forced into by Scott and Mitch for tour.

"Morning." Avi said, his eyes still locked on the screen in front of him.

"Whatcha looking at over there?" Kirstie laughed and walked behind him to get a better view of his screen.

"Nothing." He shut the laptop loudly. "Just emails. Nothing interesting." He ran a hand through his messy hair.

"Alright." Kirstie gave him a skeptical look, but went on with her business of putting her heels on.

"Why are you changing shoes?"

"These are the heels I'm wearing. You have to practice in your heels. It's what Beyonce does." Kirstie reached her hands out, and Avi helped her stand up.

"They're a bit high for all the choreo we got, don't you think?" He chuckled.

"Please. I could do this in stilettos." She sassily winked and threw him a practice mic.

"Ready?" He asked, she nodded in return and they proceeded with rehearsals.

After a good hour and a half, Avi's phone rang, interrupting the two as they perfected the duet. "Hold on, it's Esther, let me take this." Kirstie nodded, and he descended into the corridors of the studios.

Kirstie sat down and took a breather while Avi was gone. This rehearsal studio had a staircase, almost identical to the one on the stages for tours, so they rehearsed on the staircase a couple of times. One of those times, her heel clipped the back of the stair that ascended the one she was currently on, and she felt something go in her foot, probably nothing wrong with it, she probably just rolled it. She knew it'd be okay, but being her, she did start to worry a bit.

But hey, it isn't like Beyonce never fell, right?

"Hey, I'm back." Avi came back a few moments later and took a deep breath.

"You good?"

"Yeah, fine, great, let's run it a few more times then call it?" He exhaled and helped her stand up.

Kirstie fought the urge to wince at the pain that seared through her ankle as she stood up. "Staircase?" She asked, getting a nod from Avi. They ran the duet and it's choreography three more times, then called it a wrap.

"I'm going to take off my heels, but don't leave yet because I want a hug before you leave."

"Okay, Kirst." Avi chuckled and sat back in front of his laptop.
