// Requested by morningthunderstorms! Alright, Sami, I actually am writing one! (I know it can work in writing, but it's an inside joke, so...) *le* //
She woke up with a gasp. Her hair had fallen out of the bun that she had put it into sleep, and by now, she couldn't even call it a ponytail, let alone a topknot. And her bed was too a resemblance of what had she had just woken up from. The blankets were twisted, a pillow case somehow managed to come off of the pillow, it basically looked like she fought a war.
In a flash of panic, she found her phone and opened up her messages. She clicked on her favorite contact and her fingers just worked away at typing out this message.
Avi was the only one she could really trust with something like this. Ever since her father passed away, and her ex was put in jail for abuse, she's lost all trust in basically everyone. Except for Avi, she still trusts him.
She started out her text by apologizing if it woke him up. She never meant harm with these post nightmare texts. After that, her fingers flew. She kept typing and typing and typing, and eventually she hit send.
Something about sending Avi that message settled her heart beat, and she went back to sleep for the rest of the night.
~~~~~
Kirstie woke up the morning, surprisingly refreshed, considering what had happened the night before, and she started to check her messages.
It all came back to her as she skimmed over the one she had sent to Avi a few hours ago. Her heart stopped when she read one sentence.
And I know this isn't the best circumstances to tell you this in, but I love you.
"No. No. No. No. No." Kirstie said aloud. Those three little words could've ruined her life! It could break up the band if he says them back, but then it doesn't work out. Then, she wouldn't have income, and be homeless, and what the heck did she just do?
But here's the thing about texts, once you send them, you can't get them back.
Her shoulders relaxed when she saw that he hadn't answered yet. Maybe it didn't make it through, maybe he didn't see it?
That's what she hoped.
Minutes later, Kirstie remembered that they had rehearsals, so she threw her hair up and decided to subtly avoid Avi at all costs.
~~~~~
She showed up to the studios for rehearsal, and the group message got a text saying that Avi wasn't feeling well, and couldn't make it.
"No. No. No." Kirstie said for the second time this morning and started to grab her belongings.
"What's wrong?" Scott asked her.
"I have to go!" She ran into her car and started driving.
Tears started falling down her cheeks as she drove.
Did I seriously just ruin our friendship and possibly Pentatonix? She thought.
She pulled up to Avi's to see that he was sitting on the porch, totally fine. He wasn't sick. It did in fact look like he needed to think.
Kirstie parked her car and checked the text again. This time, she noticed the read receipt.
Read: 2:24 a.m.
She stepped out of her car and took a deep breath. "Kaplan!" She called out, getting his attention. Avi's head snapped up from it's place, looking down. "You saw my message, didn't you?"
