Everyone told her that a little white lie, a little embellishment, wouldn't hurt anything.

~~~~~
The words her agent just said went over her head until after the call was disconnected.
She was just cast in a huge movie, under one condition. Her character had to be fluent in Spanish.
I mean, she could just dust off her old skills from highschool, it's going to be fine.
She took a look at the script that was attached as a PDF file to the email her agent just sent.
It's all in Spanish.
And she couldn't read a word of it.
Then, maybe the greatest thought she'd ever had, came to her.
She did go to highschool with that guy who grew up to become a PARA that helped kids who fluently spoke Spanish learn English in elementary schools! Now, what was his name?
Adam? No.
Alex? No.
Aiden? No.
Avi! It was Avi!
Alright, last name...now, she was going to need some help on that one. And to get that help, she decided to call Mitch.
"Mitch! Mitch! Mitch! I need help! Who was that Avi kid from highschool that I dated? The one who does the Spanish stuff in elementary schools?"
"Woah, Kirst, chill. It's Avi Kaplan, why?" Mitch chuckled.
"THANK YOU SO MUCH!" She called into the phone and hung up. She then threw herself in front of her computer and searched up Avi Kaplan.
She reached out to him on Facebook, and he answered pretty quickly. He also remembered who she was, which helped immensely.
She explained to him her situation, and slowly but surely, they got into contact over the phone.
~~~~~

A week later, she was entering Willow Grove Elementary and going to room 394.

"Kirstie Maldonado, long time no see!" Avi stood up and smiled.

"Avi Kaplan!" They exchanged a friendly hug and she awkwardly stood there as he sat down.

"Take a seat, take a seat. Make yourself comfortable." Avi chuckled and she took a seat. "So, I hear you're an actress?"

"Haha, yeah, and I got cast in this movie, and I may or may not have embellished my resume a little bit...And now I've got myself into a role where I need to speak fluent Spanish, so could you please crash course me in Spanish? I have three weeks until filming starts." I looked around the room as I spoke. "And did I mention that I'm freaking out?!"

Avi inhaled sharply as she mentioned the timeline. "Three weeks, eh?"

"I'm sorry, I just got the script, and--"

"Relax, I don't have classes until one today, we can start right now."

"Thank you so much!"

"Of course, of course."

"And here's the script..." I handed him the textbook length script, all in Spanish.

He skimmed over it in a matter of minutes. "This...this is a really good story."

"Yeah, a story that I can't read, so please help me."

"Breathe, breathe." Avi chuckled. "So, what part of Spanish do you remember?"

"Oh Lordy..." She raised her eyebrows and grabbed her script off the table.

"I'm guessing nothing at all." Avi asked.

"Precisely."

"Okay, we have a lot of work to do in three weeks, and I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's going to be hard."

"But what if you just taught me the words off of the script?"

"Kirstie, pronounce this..." Avi pointed to a lengthy word on the script, and she responded with a completely butchered pronunciation of the word.

Avi chuckled and set the script down. "Alright, how about this? Come by my house around two, and we can start crash coursing. Bring a notebook and pen, and I can basically teach you the borderline basics of the language tonight, then we can start learning words and grammar and all that."

"Alright, see you then. Thank you so much, Avi!"

"Of course."

~~~~~
"You're kidding me?" Avi laughed as he took another bite of the takeout the two had called in. It was nearing nine o'clock now, and they had been studying since two.
"I'm not kidding you. I actually died my hair purple for an audition."
"You're crazy."
"Hey, I got the job." Kirstie laughed and tossed her box into the nearby trashcan.
"And one point for Kirstie!" Avi cheered as the box fell into the trashcan without bouncing off of the wall first.
"Yay!" I blushed and chuckled once more.
"Okay, before we finish this lesson, can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"Why did you embellish your resume?"
I laughed. "I don't know, my friend, Scott, persuaded me into it."
Avi laughed back in response as he too threw out his take out box.
They kept studying and studying, and soon it was midnight.
"Shoot! It's late! I have to go, I have a cover shoot at five!" Kirstie exclaimed, glancing at the clock.
"Oh, sorry!" Avi helped her pack her things up.
"No worries, no worries, but I have to go. See you! Thank you so much!"
"Wait, Kirstie!"
"Yeah?"
"Continued study session tomorrow, whenever you're free?"
"Yeah, I'll send you a text."
"Perfect."
Kirstie then left, but minutes later came back in for her phone she had left. "Can't...can't forget this." She chuckled.
"Definitely." Avi laughed.
"Thank you again."
"Of course." They shared one last hug, and after said hug something happened. Maybe it was heat of the moment, maybe it was seeing each other after all of these years, maybe it was the fact that they kind of sort of dated in the past, or maybe it was none of that, who knows, but it wasn't until their lips were touching that both of them realized what had happened.
"Oh my gosh! I am so so sorry!" Avi exclaimed.
"No, I am. I'm sorry! I should just go."
"Wait," Avi sighed. "Kirstie."
"Yes?" Kirstie turned around once more.
"Can we pretend that never happened?"
"What never happened?"
"Exactly. Now, have a goodnight!"
"You too, Avi. You too." Kirstie left the house and sat in her car for a moment before sending Scott a text.
Thanks for persuading me to lie on my resume.
