Sharna held her paper cup of coffee closer to her body. Some part of her mind told her that doing that will bring the warmth back to her heart that she was missing.
It'd been a week since her boyfriend of three years had left her. It was a nasty fight they got into.
Sharna passed a local newsstand and picked up a paper to read. She sat on a nearby bench and sipped at her coffee, as she took a look at the front page headline.
SCOTT HOYING: RESIGNATION AND REHAB
Scott Hoying, one of the biggest rock stars of their time. Notorious for performing on drugs and not showing up for interviews.
Sharna placed her coffee cup by her foot and unfolded the paper at it's center crease.
She was never one to read up on all of that celebrity drama, but this story seemed like it might have a happy ending. Maybe Scott would finally get better.
"You really read this stuff?" A man sat beside Sharna.
He was dressed in a black hoodie, layered with a denim jacket ontop. He had a baseball cap on under his flipped up hood.
"I usually don't, but I have nothing but time to--" Sharna stopped mid sentence when she got a good look at the stranger's face. "You're Scott Hoying." She whispered.
He smiled his million dollar smile and looked down. "And you're reading tabloids about me." He chuckled.
The space between the star and the stranger went silent for a moment. "If you don't mind me asking...why aren't the paparazzi after you?"
Scott laughed. "They gave up on me. Those tabloids got released. I kept getting high and skipping interviews."
Sharna nodded slowly. "If you don't mind me asking again, is this true?" She pointed at the paper. "Are you going to get help?"
Scott looked down. He twiddled his fingers that were partially covered by his oversized hoodie sleeves. "Um...yeah. It is." He looked up at Sharna. "Why don't we continue this conversation over tapas?"
Sharna snickered. "You're serious? You're a rockstar. And you want to have tapas with me?"
"You're the only stranger who has ever recognized me that hasn't been all over me." Scott explained. "So, tapas?"
"Sure." Sharna smiled.

"So...I checked myself into a drug rehabilitation clinic on the down low, and I pack my things and move in on Monday." Scott explained.
"Wow." Sharna shook her head between taking bites. "That's so inspiring."
Scott lowered his head so that he could disguise his blush.
Sharna blushed at his reaction as well. "So is that story in the paper true? About the turtle?" She whispered.
Scott immediately looked up, dissolving into laughter. "They published that?!"
Sharna giggled. "They mentioned, 'an incident with a turtle'."
Scott rolled his eyes. "Okay, listen. I'll admit to it. I just came out of a show. I was headed back to the tour bus, so, so high. And my memory is fuzzy, but my bandmates said I kept mumbling stuff about how I couldn't talk to the paps because I had to get back to my pet turtle." He laughed.
Sharna's smile grew, shaking her head.
The conversation continued on. They touched on Sharna's work in the dance world, and very briefly on her recent breakup.
They finished their tapas and split the tab for the meal.
"Before I go..." Sharna started as Scott walked her back to her home. "I just wanted to say that you're very inspiring. I wish you the best in rehab."
Scott smiled. "Thank you. But could you promise me something?"
"Sure."
"Please don't read anymore tabloids about me. They're full of lies. I'd rather you talk to me." He slipped her a torn off corner of a napkin from the restaurant.
Sharna nodded, smiling as Scott gently kissed the back of her hand, wishing her a farewell.
As Sharna watched him disappear, she flipped over the piece of napkin and saw a phone number scribbled on the back of it.
