Romantic Kavi
Platonic Scirstie

AU (Kind of) where Kevin is the only new member who is flown out.

Kirstin Maldonado P.O.V.

"Avi." We were standing in the wings, the other three standing in the wings stage right. All five of us only met and rehearsed 24 hours ago, and oh my gosh was it a mess. I wasn't even completely sure if we would be able to pull it all together. Well, we made do with the time we had and got our performance down as best as we could. And here we are. "Avi." My hand gripped onto his upper arm. He looked over at me with worry plastered over his face.

"Kirstie, Kirstie, talk to me. Stay with me, c'mon, you're okay." Avi had been dating me for almost three years now, and it didn't come all the time, but he knew about my anxiety, and he knew that if he didn't keep me in the moment and with him that I'd either back out of this whole thing or pass out before I could do so. I didn't respond; I couldn't respond. "Kirstin, talk to me, listen to me. Breathe. In and out."

I followed his breathing patterns, but I was still freaking out. "Avi, I'm seeing stars."

"Kirst," He pointed in front of me. "Those are just the stage lights, they're shaped like stars." He chuckled lightly. "You're okay."

I nodded gently, my grip tightening around his arm. "I can't do this."

"Forty five seconds until Pentatonix!" A backstage tech called. My heart started to race, and I turned behind myself, ready to book it back to the dressing rooms.

"Stay." Avi grabbed my arm enough to pull me back.

"Avi, we had 24 hours to do this, the other groups had their whole lives! We can't do--"

"In ten, nine..." The same techie called.

"You're going to kill it, Princess. You'll be amazing!" Avi kissed the side of my head as we walked on. I nodded as best I could and walked on stage, meeting Scott in the middle as we all formed on straight line to begin.

The show went by in a blur. I couldn't even hear the judge's comments, I was shaking so badly, the lights were too bright, the whole atmosphere was too overwhelming for me.

We were shipped back to our hotels in a cab not too long after filming had wrapped. Scott thought it'd be a good idea to wind down and watch a throwback movie before we went to bed, as celebration. We all loved the idea, but I went to my shared hotel room with Avi to change into more comfortable clothes than this itchy dress someone put me in.

"I told you you'd be amazing." Avi smiled as I pulled my hair into a messy bun and took my makeup off.

"Thanks." I half smiled. He kissed my lips and grabbed our hotel key as we walked two doors down to Scott and Mitch's room. Kevin had the privilege of rooming alone. We got to the other hotel room, and I went with Scott to go get ice from the machines in the hotel lobby.

I sighed as the elevator doors shut - we were much too exhausted to take the stairs.

"What's wrong, Kirst?" Scott asked.

"Nothing. Nothing." I looked at my manicured fingertips as the elevator continued to descend.

"Kirstin, I've known you for like the better part of six years. Something is wrong." We both stepped out of the elevator as it reached the lobby.
