A/N: I did add the Titanic music in for dramatic effect, if you want to listen to it while you read. (Even better, it's the extended version 😂)

Heads up, this does involve the tragedy surrounding the Titanic that you obviously know already.

**Attempts and thoughts of suicide**

Southampton, Circa 1912

The dull pain of a headache became apparent to Kirstin as she unfolded the thin newspaper. She credited the pain to the tight twists she had her hair pinned into. She was on her way to a dinner when the newspaper landed at her doorstep. Kirstie's eyes scanned over the bolded headline on the front page.

1500 TO 1800 DEAD

After reading further into the article, the paper fell from her now numb fingertips. Subconsciously, her fingers went and rested onto her collarbone, as her mind started flashing back to only a few days ago.

"Are you sure that you have to go?" Kirstie asked, sighing.

"Yes, Darling, I have to go. It'll only be a few days." Avi said, closing his suitcase.

"Two months isn't a "few days", Avriel." Kirstie mumbled.

Avi turned his head towards his wife. "Kirstin..." His voice trailed off as he pressed his chapped lips to her forehead. "What's two months when you have eternal love?"

Kirstie smiled and chuckled softly as she looked into his emerald eyes. "Stay safe, My Love."

"I promise." Avi kissed his wife's lips, and boarded the ship that everyone deemed "unsinkable".

Kirstie remembered that day like it was yesterday, mostly because it basically was. He had been off to New York for business. Kirstie's eyes watered, smudging her makeup. Her dusty rose painted lips trembled. Kirstie stumbled back onto the small sofa as her hands started to shake. Her fingers rapidly brushed over the sapphire tied around her neck, the sapphire he gifted her on their one year anniversary. Gray-black tears streaked down her powdered face, but she didn't care all that much, because she had no intentions to impress who she was going to have dinner with. But now, she wasn't even sure if she would bring herself to go.

Her mind spun. She couldn't take life on her own. No way. Everyone would make fun of her. No, you're a woman. Women can't do anything by themselves. No. No. No. She had to see Avi again. She couldn't do this.

Kirstie rapidly made her way to the kitchen. She slid a knife out of the drawer. Could she even do this?

"Kirstin!" A voice pulled her from her running thoughts. She whipped around and saw one of her best friends, Scott. "No!" He yelled, seeing what was between her fingertips. Scott ran towards the girl and pried the knife from her fingertips.

"No! No! I have to see Avi! No!" She shrieked as Scott set the blade down.

"Hey, hey, shh." Scott coaxed, pulling Kirstie into a hug. She fought against him, trying to pull away, but he wouldn't let her go. "Kirstin, you're too good for this. No, don't throw it away like this."

"I have to see Avi, I can't lose Avi." Kirstie sobbed. What felt like hours passed, as she stood there, enveloped in her friend's arms. What felt like hours, because it was hours, later, the door swung open. Kirstie lifted her head and ran into the arms of another man. She gasped as tears of relief spilled down her cheeks. "I love you. I love you. I love you."

Avi had survived when the unsinkable ship sunk.
