"Kirstie!" Avi quickly jogged up to her locker. "Stop, I need to talk to you."
Kirstie slammed her locker door shut, turning to face Avi. "Listen, I really have to go catch Jeremy in the studios. We reserved the biggest studio and got that locked down until five. Please make this quick."
"Kirst, we need to have an intervention." Avi started, yet his next sentence was stammered. "But...um...when does your dad come home?"
"Thursday."
"Perfect...um, could the gang come over to your house around eight? Kirst, this is really important."
Kirstie sighed. "Okay, but who does 'the gang' entail? Because last time you said there was a party with 'the gang' it was half the whole school."
"No. No just you, me, Scott, Mitch, Kevin."
"Alright. Fine. I'll see y'all at eight."
Kirstie hurried off to her rehearsal for her duet for the school show that counted as ⅔ of her final grade.
~~~~~
Kirstie walked into her home at 5:45, humming her song that she was just rehearsing.
"Hello, Kirstie." Avi announced once she walked inside.
Everyone was sitting on her sofa and in chairs around the room.
"Aah!" She screamed, almost dropping her latte and textbooks. "How did you guys get in here?! I told Avi eight o'clock!"
"Key under the mat, Kit." Mitch stood up, taking her drink and books from her hands. "Sit." Mitch basically pushed her into the seat he was just in.
"This is your intervention." Kevin began.
"You've had four lattes today. You've got to be dehydrated." Avi set a glass of water on the coffee table before Kirstie.
"What the heck is going on?" Kirstie sat back, slightly alarmed, arms crossed in front of her chest. She timidly sipped her water.
"Kit," Scott started. "We know you're working with Jeremy for the Winter performance project."
"Yeah, so?" She asked. "Why do you care."
Now it was Mitch's turn. "Kirst, he has a reputation."
Kirstie scoffed, setting her glass down after she took a second sip. "Ooh, he wears leather jackets and has one tattoo. What a reputation!"
"Don't play this game with us." Avi shushed her. "Listen, we heard that he uses all the pretty girls to get an A, and then he dumps them."
"So..." Kevin stood up from his seat in the recliner chair. "We checked it out with some of the other girls that he's so-called, "dated", and it's true."
"And Avi went through his phone when he left class yesterday!" Mitch piped up, getting a come on, you really had to say that look from Avi.
"I can't believe this." Kirstie looked down, fiddling with the laces on her boots.
"I'm so sorry, Kirst." Kevin sat beside her, giving her a sideways hug as he kissed the top of her head.
"So what am I supposed to do? I can't fail!"
"Oh..." Mitch smirked. "Scott's got you covered." He took her hand and led her to the piano bench where Scott had moved to sitting at. "Here's your new song."
Kirstie watched in fascination as Scott started playing a beautiful song, while Kevin added in some background beatboxing, that he noted would become drums in the final product.
