Hey, guess who's back?!
P.S. I'm literally living a fanfiction *winks at morningthunderstorms*
It had been an interesting night to say the least. It started with a thunderstorm that cut the power from the theater for an hour, and it ended with all five singers and Esther at an Urgent Care around 11:30 at night, because they all momentarily thought Kirstie broke her foot during the show. (Scott warned her about those heels and all the choreo they had). Well, now it was the next morning, and Mitch was thanking the Lord that they didn't have shows today, because he didn't sleep at all last night.
Mostly because he saw Kirstie kissing Avi that last night in the waiting room, and he wasn't too sure if he was supposed to see it or not.
But the more he thought about it, the more it made sense that maybe they could be hiding a relationship. Like, they had been spending a lot more time together offstage, and Avi did admit to laying with Kirstie until she fell back asleep one night when she suffered a stress nightmare before the first tour show. Maybe they just didn't want to tell about it because of the press.
Maybe they're just refusing to follow in the footsteps of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
"Okay, what's wrong?" Scott asked, sitting next to his friend.
"What? Sorry, I spaced out." Mitch said, stopping himself from biting his thumbnail.
"Exactly. What's on your mind?"
"Nothing, I'm tired. Couldn't sleep last night." Mitch mumbled, looking down at his hands, where his fingers were fidgeting, trying to relieve his nervous energy.
"And why was that?" Scott asked. He hated seeing Mitch like this.
"Because I saw Avi and Kirstie kiss!" Mitch exclaimed a bit too loudly, and then once he realized what he said, he clamped a hand over his mouth.
Scott's eyes widened. "What?!"
"Oh, no, no, no, you're not supposed to know that, you can't tell them I know!" Mitch rapidly shook his head.
"Hey, hey, slow down there." Scott nodded, trying to get Mitch to calm down. "When did this happen?"
"I-I don't know! We were sitting in the waiting room, and Kirstie was just sending me texts that she was scared something might actually be broken in her foot, and that she didn't want to break the silence in the room because it was too tense, and I looked up to make sure she wasn't crying or anything, but I saw that she was, then Avi dried her tears and kissed her, and Scott, I don't think I'm supposed to have seen that." Mitch rambled on.
"So you do know?" Scott asked.
"Shut up!" Mitch exclaimed, running his hand through his signature side part.
"Okay, here's the deal, we'll keep it on the D.L. for now, and see how it plays out, okay? We'll make something fun out of it. Let's call it Operation: Burton and Taylor." Scott suggested, and Mitch looked confused.
"How can this be fun?! Two of our best friends could be dating, and we're not supposed to know about it!" Mitch looked down at his fingertips once more. His hands had started shaking.
"No, it's fine. We're kind of like...ninjas now. Armed with top secret information."
Mitch chuckled. "You're a dork."
"You are too. But let Operation: Burton and Taylor begin."

It was the next late morning at brunch before the matinee when Mitch started giving glances over to Scott. It actually started when Kirstie sat in the farthest possible spot away from Avi at the table as she could.
"What's wrong? You always sit by Avi." Mitch asked.
"It's unimportant." Kirstie mumbled.
Mitch chose to brush it off and change the subject. "Foot feeling any better?"
"Eh, a bit."
"Good."
"Yeah, I'll be in shorter heels today and tonight." She chuckled.
After brunch, Mitch sent Scott a text.
Mitchy: Operation: Burton and Taylor!
Mitchy: Are they mad at each other now?

It was post matinee when Avi's dressing room door was slammed, Kirstie in the room, and there was yelling heard from the other side of the wall. Scott shot Mitch a scared look, but proceeded on to their rooms to put something more comfortable on before dinner in between shows.
"How they still have the voice to be yelling astounds me." Scott mumbled. The both of them jumped up when they heard another door slam. Mitch was about to stand up, but Scott sat him down. "Let them cool down for a moment. We can go check on her when dinner comes." Mitch nodded in return.
"Hey, did you guys hear that?" Kevin asked, walking past the dressing room. "What's up with Avi?"
"I have no clue. He seemed pretty angry about something after the show." Scott shrugged.
"I'm going to go check on him." Kevin nodded. He was such a good friend.
About ten minutes later, dinner was brought over by Esther (what a queen, am I right?), and Scott and Mitch went to go bring Kirstie her food. "Hey, Kit, we have food for you." Scott said, opening her door. She had changed from her dress into a more comfortable hoodie and leggings.
"Thanks." She said, gratefully taking the food. Scott and Mitch sat on the floor with her.
"What's wrong?" Mitch asked, noticing how red Kirstie's eyes were, and her constant sniffles.
"Nothing. Nothing at all." Kirstie shook her head, and took a bite of her salad.
"Sure?" Scott asked. "Everything okay with Avi? He seemed kind of mad, yelling at you after matinee and all." Kirstie bit her lip. Crap, they saw that?
"No, yeah, we're fine. We're fine. We were just settling some...artistic differences." Kirstie took another bite.
Scott took notice that Kirstie flinched when his phone vibrated, and that she kept looking down. He just had to clear something up. "Hey, Kirst? When you were settling these artistic differences, Avi didn't raise his hand at you or anything, right?"
Kirstie's eyebrows scrunched together. "Scott Hoying, are you suggesting that Avi hit me?"
"Well, it sounded like a pretty nasty fight, and you're a bit jumpy." Scott pointed out.
"No, Avi didn't hit me. He didn't even raise his hand at me. He isn't that kind of guy." Kirstie looked back down.
"Well, good. Because that's no way to treat your girlfriend." Scott said, not even realizing he said that.
Kirstie's head shot up. "Excuse me?"
"Mitch saw you and Avi kissing!" Scott borderline yelled.
"Oh, my God!" Mitch shouted towards Scott.
"I'm not talking about this right now." Kirstie said, picking her plate up and starting to leave.
"No, stay." Mitch pointed right back to where she was sitting. Kirstie groaned, but still sat back down. "I'll let you leave after a yes or no. Are you two dating."
"Unimportant."
