He was done. Done with all of this.

First, it was leaving the band. At the time, he didn't realize that it was his prime source of happiness. He figured that was always just music, but it was music paired with those other four amazing artists.

Then it was that whole Trisha online Instagram situation. (We don't talk about that).

And maybe some other things that iced the cake, but moral of the story is that he was done.

With everything.

Him and the band still hung out often. And he decided on the day they were coming over anyways.

Hours and hours before they were set to show up, Avi took out a notebook and a felt tipped pen. He tore off four pieces of paper. One for each member.

Kevin,
Keep cooking dinners for Esther, okay? She really loves those. Keep her happy, keep her safe. Also, don't ever skimp on the meat and potatoes *winks*

Scott,
You're Beyonce's favorite tall lead singer of Pentatonix. Remember that.

Mitch,
Chin up, the crown's falling, Queen.

Kirstie,
Don't tell the others, but when I count my blessings, I count you twice.

And he signed every note with:

All of my love. I'll still be standing by, always.
-Avi

Hours later, Avi had left the door unlocked, and the rest of the gang was flooding in to his house.

"Av?" Kirstie called out. "Avi?" She froze at the letters on the table. "Guys?" She called to the other three with a shaky voice.

"What's wrong, Kirst?"

"Where are Scott and Mitch?" She asked, her eyes still locked on the folded pieces of paper.

"Still in the car, they wanted to play out the Beyonce song." Kevin chuckled.

Kirstie looked out the window and did in fact see Scott and Mitch jamming out in the driver's seat and passenger's side seat of her car. She chuckled lightly, but remembered the notes half a second later.

Kevin had beat her to it and had opened up his letter. Kirstie followed suit, and they both read in silence.

Without a word, Kirstie bolted out the door. "Get out!" She borderline pushed Scott and Mitch from the car. "GET OUT!"

The two quickly got out of the car as per request, cursing at Kirstie as to why she'd kill their vibe in the middle of a Beyonce song.

"I have to do this by myself. Just go inside or something!" She shouted at them and slammed the car door shut.

Kirstie's vision was blurred by tears, but she didn't mind. She also probably broke a few speeding laws, but she didn't mind that either.

She got to where she needed to be and saw in fact who she needed to see. "Avriel Benjamin Kaplan!" She called his name, obviously not getting his attention. She removed her shoes and started running towards the bridge. Running barefoot is faster than running in sandals. "Get down!" She exclaimed.

"Kirstin Taylor, go away!" He yelled at her, his eyes still looking at the swirling water below him.

"Why are you doing this? You left no explanation, Avi!"

"I can't do any of this anymore." He told her.

"Why?"

"Because I can't, Kirstie! Just let me be! Nobody would care anyway!" He still didn't face the girl.

"Really? I can name twenty five people who would care if you were to jump off of that bridge right now." Her tears came faster.

"Really?" He faced Kirstie now, still not getting down from the bridge.

"Yes. Scott, Mitch, Kevin, Esther, your Mom, your Dad, Olaf, Pascal, that little boy from the meet and greet, the Sequoias, that's three more..." She continued listing until Avi stopped her.

"Scott and Mitch have each other, Kevin and Esther have each other, we're not even gonna start with our parents, Olaf and Pascal rejected my cuddles last time I saw them, that kid isn't going to remember us in a year, the Sequoias are amazing on their own, the fans will move on, and anyone else you listed doesn't care either, honestly. And also, you only listed 24." He looked back to the water below his feet.

"What about me, Avi?"

"What about you?"

That broke Kirstie right in half.

"Avi!" She yelled.

"What, you have Jeremy, and the rest of the band, and two dogs that love you, and--"

"Avriel, Jeremy and I broke things off! I didn't tell anyone because everyone's all stressed out any way. I need you in my life, Avi." He tried to refuse her, but she kept talking. "Oh, bonus person, number twenty six, the baby Esther and Kevin are adopting in May."

"They're adopting a baby?" Avi asked her quietly.

"Yes, they are, and they would've told you, but you've been disappearing and going God knows where, and shutting everyone out! If that baby doesn't have his or her uncle Avi in their life, who's going to take him or her on hikes, or to get ice cream before dinner even though Esther said not to? Who's gonna teach that kid guitar, who's going to help him or her when they're stressed, who's going to low-key be a bad influence, but teach great lessons to them?"

It all made way too much sense now. Nothing in his life is worth jumping for. "I will." He whispered and slowly lowered himself from the ledge he'd been standing on.
