Ironically as it was your relationship with Leonardo only strengthened after the 'little' breakdown you had gotten under. You had promised yourself you wouldn't get close to him, but as things worked out you realized it was more painful to stay away from him, than actually just be with him.
Unbelievable even after had avoided him so coldly, it didn't went slow for you and Leonardo to become comfortable with one another. Just by two days your bond with Leonardo had grown to one just as strong as the one you once had shared with Leo before you became a couple.
Side by side in the living room you and Leonardo sat while watching his favorite TV-show Space Heroes. It wasn't exactly your kind of show, but you couldn't deny it wasn't entertaining to see the new, more childish side of the Turtles' else so serious leader. To see his face literally glued to the screen was fun...and somewhat cute?
"Leonardo," you spoke up, tapping him on the shoulder lightly. "I'm thirsty, what about you?"
He glanced towards you briefly with a chuckle still plastered to his face after a funny scene had just occurred on the show. "I'm alright, but want me to get you something?"
He was about to stand from his seat, but you quickly shook your head and got up yourself. "Don't worry Captain, I can do it."
"You're sure?"
"Sure!" you replied already gone the half-way to the kitchen
You entered the kitchen few steps after and began searching for a cup in one of the cupboards, while still hearing Leonardo's cheers behind you. He's pure eagerness for a simple show was amazing and refreshing. In that state of mind he could be mistaked for a blue-masked version of Mikey. Or at least a good parody of him.
The simple thought of your orange ex-brother-in-law dressed up like Leo made a bitter laugh escape from you while a wave of guiltiness flowed over you. You hadn't even considered worrying about Leo's brothers. How were they? Did they hate you now when yoou no longer had connections to them?
Finally finding a cup, you took it out of its casing and turned towards the sink. The water rushed out of the faucet with a plop and into your cup. You sighed gloomy while drinking the cold liquid and afterward put your cup aside with a heavy heart.
"It's been over a week, (Y/n)," you scolded yourself out loud. "Just forget about them. He has forgotten you already."
"I haven't."
"Stop hoping. I only fool myself."
"(Y/n), it's true."
You wrinkled your nose in concentration. The voice inside your head sounded inconceivable a lot like Leo's voice, and was oddly consistent to deny the facts. Hesitant you added: "He...He hates me."
"I don't."
Your eyes widened in realization. The voice wasn't like Leo's. It was Leo's. It wasn't your fantasy that someone was replying. It really happened! You whirled around quick enough to accidentally hitting the cup you had just used down on the floor. The glass smacked to pieces at the impact and scattered around your feet. However that were the least of your problems as your suddenly felt it hard to breath.
Behind you, different to the Turtle you had left in the living room, a tall giant Turtle stood with his somber eyes observing you. It wasn't any Turtle though. This guy had saved you multiple times from danger and made you one of the happiest girls alive, however, he also had broken your heart and made you one of the most miserable ones alive.
Shocked you tried to force words out but in vain. Your body had frozen in place and your insides had begun to burn up painfully. It couldn't be him. It simply couldn't, yet you were fully aware that it was. Everything about him was like what you remembered, just in a more worn out condition.
"(Y/n)," Leo spoke, like he hadn't completely comprehended the situation either. "I found you. I really found you."
"L-Le-Leo..." Your brain caught on fire. Instead of being unable to speak, you suddenly found it hard not to. So much confusion rushed through your body that it trembled obviously like someone who was covered in snow. "H-How...Wh-Why...it's not pos-possible..."
"I can explain," he assured. "I'll explain it I promise. But are you alright?"
He took a few steps your way and reached out as if wanting to examine whether or not you were hurt. A typically Leo manner; make a overview of the situation first. You stiffened fearfully at his hand. Just as he barely touched you, you gasped when the sudden appearance of steel sliced through the air in front of you. Simultaneously as your gasp, Leo pulled away his hand in time to save his hand from getting chopped off.
Leonardo, who unnoticed had entered the kitchen, took the moment of surprise to stand in between the two of you with his katana pointing towards Leo threateningly. You blinked startled by his abrupt presence and the fact that he had been an inch from shaving your nose shorter.
"If you want to keep that hand, you better keep it to yourself," Leonardo said demonstrating his blade in the dim light.
"Leonardo..." you started, trying to look over his shoulder. Leonardo shoved you back behind his shell protectively, not yielding from his spot.
"You're this dimension's me I assume," Leo stated nonchalantly.
"That's correct." The shorter counterpart made a sore expression. "You're the Leo (Y/n) have spoken of."
"Yes."
"Well, I'm glad to meet you," Leonardo said. "Now you can leave."
"You know well why I'm here. I'm not leaving before I've talked with (Y/n)."
You couldn't see the two turtles' faces, yet the hostility was dripping from their polite words of choice. It wasn't normal for the leader in blue to be so upfront by a 'first meeting', yet of course it wasn't normal for him to be face to face with himself either.
You made an attempt to peek past the shell you were faced with, but Leonardo followed your move and blocked you from view. "We have a problem then. I won't let you hurt her again. Not after what you did to her."
"I know what I did and what I said." You couldn't see him, but you could almost feel the contriteness and shame that erupted from Leo as he admitted it. "I know I've put shame on myself and hurt her, but that's why I have to talk to her."
"(Y/n) doesn't have to listen to you." Leonardo sheathed his katana back on to his shell, sending his older counterpart a disapproved gaze. "You made her cry, and first after a week you show up to bring her back. You can't just ask her to return and expect she'll go with you."
Finally when you moved Leonardo didn't follow. You stepped past him and ended in the middle of the two leaders. The intensity was unbearable. You were split by the one and same Turtle who broke your heart and afterward gathered it again.
Who would you chose?
