When your concentration is on the edge, your expectations are the highest, and your patience is thin like a noodle, then you know your time has come and your anniversary has arrived. Which it funny enough had.

Mikey and you had been together now for over one and a half years. One and a half years that in fact had been one of the best years in your life, as far your memory could go back. You still remembered every day with Mikey clear, like it had been yesterday. You remembered the laughs, the experiences, the days and the nights.

You felt warmth cover your heart, every time your thoughts slipped back to him, instead of your work with the article you were working on. You knew it was silly, yet you had a feeling Mikey, who stayed back home, felt just like you.

This last week your conversations always had ended up with the two of you bringing up plans for how you'd celebrate your special day together. Would it be a snuggle on the couch at home? A visit to the cinema? A dinner for two? Maybe a nightly ride in one a theme park?

It had been impossible to decide, as the choices were countless! Therefore it ended with an agreement that Mikey would take you on a surprise date. He'd make the plans and as soon as you were released from school your date of fun could begin.

You eyed the clock on the wall with an impatient frown. Little under an hour left and you'd be free to go. Why was time always so slow, when you needed it to run out the most? Pushing your chair a few feet away from the table you were about to slump down on, you turned your head to the rest of the room.

Differently from when you worked late, the journalism class today was filled with your fellow reports, who worked in haste to get next week's newspaper published. Everybody had either their eyes glued to a screen or were discussing the last new scoop they wanted to write about. However, three of your fellow reports did neither and instead seemed to have a serious conversation over a matter you didn't quite could figure out.

One of the three apparently noticed that your gaze was on them and broke off from the conversation to instead invitingly waved you over. You took the hint and stood, wondering what the fuss was about.

"It's true," one of the guys said, who was a year older than you. "I heard that Park East High considered putting it into one of their next issues."

"That's ridiculous," the girl who had waved you over said, "they don't exist."

The second guy grunted. "And would you know? There's no proof that they don't."

"Neither is there any saying they do!" the girl protested. Then without notice, she turned to you. "(Y/n), please, help me out. You're one of the best reporters we have, so you should know."

Both guys rolled their eyes t their friend, before turning, too. "Fine. (Y/n), you must have heard about the rumors about the giant, mutant turtles."

As soon as the words had been uttered, you froze at your spot, fighting a strong urge to flinch. It was true you had heard rumors and you could officially confirm the truth of them. But you couldn't possibly let that fact slip out. What would happen if they actually found out about Mikey and the others? The risk was too big. Even if you had to lie, you couldn't let them know.

You tried your best to cover up your nervousness with a laugh. "That's just silly. You've watched too much TV." You shook your head to give your words more weight. "We only write the truth on our news. We can't rely on simple, childish rumors."

The girl smiled triumphantly while the boys exchanged unsure looks. For a moment you were afraid they didn't believe you, but at last one of them shrugged and mumbled; "I guess."

Not a minute later after he spoke, (Bff/n) came through the door, much to your surprise, with a somewhat gloomy expression. He headed over to you with his arms hidden behind him. You gave him a weird look and he sighed. "Someone left you gifts on your table, and sadly it isn't me."

From behind his back, he pulled out an adorable teddy (f/a) and an orange envelope. He handed both items to you, though, it was obvious, he didn't want to. Instantly you could feel the smooth and soft material the (f/a) in your hand was made of and per reflex hugged it into your chest. Simultaneously as hugging it, you turned your attention to the envelope, having a good guess about who the sender was. You opened it and inside you found a poem, you knew only one Turtle in the world would write for you:

No other love story
could compare to the love story
that you and I are so lucky to share.
It's our anniversary day
I hope forever our love will stay
