It wasn't that you hadn't noticed Micky's lack of presence, cause you had, but you simply just were too busy to do anything about it. You missed him a lot and felt more lonely than ever since he didn't answer neither of your call or texts. And even though you wanted to go search for him you got no chance to.
School had heaped up with homework, almost drowning you in assignments. The school's newsdesk had also been more hectic than normal with all the sport events that was going on recently. Outside from school things weren't less busy. Your mom had signed you up as supporter for a girl boarding-school. There you should visit for the next 2 weeks lecturing snobby girls how to act in the higher-classes presence. Of course you hated the all-too-elegant stuff and had argued with your parents about it, but the only thing they argued back with was, you as daughter of high-educated sociality, should help your compeers. If you added all that together, only time you had left were few hours to sleep before the evil circle would repeat.
One week after Mikey had vanished and your exhausting days had begun, signs from you missing friend had started appearing around you. At first you had heard small taps on your window at night, you had ignored due to tiredness. Then he, himself, started appearing eagerly. You were happy Mikey was back but his constant attempts to get your attention ruined your concentration and made you a little snappy.
Today late in the afternoon you sat alone in the journalism class writing an article about the volleyball team's streak of success. Thankfully the rest of the school had already left, giving you peace to work, sadly though the quiet didn't last.
As your hands danced hasty over your keyboard a light knock was head from the window bringing you out of you focus. You looked up to find a green turtle hanging in the window sending you a bright smile, pointing to the lock of the window. You shook your head and turned back to the screen continuing where you had been stopped.
Not surprisingly a few minutes after the window was shoved open anyway and you could hear Mikey climb in through the window, closing it after him. He was a ninja for a reason, but it irritated you a little still that he could come in.
"Mikey, I'm glad you want to hang out, but I don't have time," you said without looking away from the screen as he approached you.
"Aw, but (Y/n) you've been busy for days," he answered and leaned up against the table you were sitting by
"Actually it's been the last two weeks," you corrected sighing. "You would have known that if you were here last week."
"If you've been busy that's the more reason you should chill a little." Not seeming even the least bothered with your voice lack of enthusiasm, he smiled at you even brighter. "About last week...Then that's what I wanted to talk with you about."
"I can't talk now Mike, I need to focus on this if I'm gonna have any hope to finish it at all."
"But it's important."
Clicking a new tab open on your PC, you searched through your documents to find a picture for the article. Feeling a pair of waiting eyes gawk at you, you sighed and turned your gaze to Mikey shortly. "I don't doubt it's important, but can't it wait?"
"Well...It can, but..." Before he could come up with anything further to say you raised a hand interrupting him and pointed at a chair standing nearby.
"If it can wait and it's not life or dead stuff, you need to wait till I'm finished. If you want to stay, please keep quiet, okay?" You got a sad sigh in return and a quiet nod. Taking the chair you had been pointing at, he moved it closer to you and sat down in a unusually obedient manner without a word.
You breathed out relieved and went back to what you wee doing, happy for some quiet. Normally you had no problem with multitasking or working in noise, but after have been active constantly for about two weeks your brain felt like toast; too tired to could manage anything unnecessary.
While you continued writing and edited the layout with new posts, you couldn't help feeling the eyes of Mikey following your every move, more like on a observant way than a creepy one. You weren't exactly mad at him for have been gone, you were more irritated that he had come back in the belief you just would throw anything away and listen to what he had to say spontaneously.
Realizing it too late you found your thoughts spin around Mikey. You shook your head desperately to clear your head, only to receive a funny glance from Mikey with his head tilted to the side in a inquiring way. "You're alright chica?"
"I'm fine, don't worry," you mumbled looking away from him.Why should your mind absolutely wander over that one person who did everything but help on your concentration at the moment?
You managed to get a couple more lines out on paper, before the eagerness took over Mikey again, giving him a hard time to keep the restlessness away. He started fiddling with the edge of his belt, while the other hand was busy drumming on the top of his thigh. Since you were aware that the noise was unintentionally, you tried to shut it out.
It worked more or less for awhile. Until your taps on the keyboard were mixed together with Mikey's drumming only making your concentration wave even more. The harder it seemed to get for you to shut it out, the more unnecessary noise Mikey made, only fueling your else so normally little temper. Finally you snapped as it became too much when you realized you had written the exact same two times in a row.
"For Pete's sake!" you exclaimed, not able to ignore it anymore. Frustrated you prompt pushed your chair out from the table and turned to him, seeing the startled jolt on his face. "I can't concentrate with all that."
You had caught Mikey off guard, but it was only shown briefly. He took your hands, you were busy flailing with, and held them in his, having a mild expression on his face. He held your hands still, but the rest of you were totally snapped. You had some steam to come out with and now you couldn't stop it.
"Mikey, you can't just come here and distract me! i've been working so hard all week to finish up this," you complained.
"Sorry I distracted you," he said, smiling at you sheepishly. "It's just that I really want to tell you..."
"That's another thing! You just vanished leaving me alone. Then you came back and think I just am gonna throw anything in my hands away for you."
"I know. i'm sorry for that too, but..."
"I've been stressed really much. School have killed me with homework and I have the control over most of the news this week, bossing me to write more articles and columns."
It wasn't really because you wanted to complain, but you were just so exhausted you couldn't control it, after haven't had anyone to talk with it about. Mikey knew this and let you get it all out, before he again tried to inject a comment of his own.
"My parents are also all over me with their upper-class-gabble they want me to interact and act with."
"That sounds bad, but..."
"It really is crazy. And not on the cool kind of crazy, but the really sick and bad kind of crazy" You sighed as the most of your steam had ran out and looked at him seeing he had his mouth were half open to say something, but waited to see if you would let him. "My concentration is long gone anyway, so what was it you wanted to tell me? You said it was important so..."
The last of your words became muffled as a hand was clasped over your mouth. "I'll tell you chica, but you gotta give me a chance to," he proclaimed. Since his hand still was silencing you, you gave a puzzled nod. "I'll tell you why I left, but what I wanted to tell you there's more important..."
You indeed got your answer, but it was different from what you had expected. Letting the words being said your eyes widened and every other thought you had had, were gone leaving you dumbfound.
"I like you (Y/n)."
