Another One

Ok, I might have exaggerated a bit when I said I was poisoned, but technically I was. I think...

Falling into the numbing darkness, time seemed to stop. What felt like only a moment later, I was awake. Before my eyes could fully adjust to the light I had already made many assumptions of my current situation. One, I could hear the sound of wheels squeaking and horses stomping. Two, the ground under me was shaking in tune with the noise. And three, my wrist were bounded. When my eyes finally adjusted to the lights and surroundings I realized there had been a person sitting next to me the whole time, who I got an unwelcomed look from and decided to ignore. The wolves, the calm and the hunter were all still fresh in my mind, as well as the dart. I clenched my fist, tilting my head down and stretching my neck out and glancing over at the nearby figure. He's lucky I was cuffed.

If they had wanted to kill me they could have, so I'm alive for a specific reason. Whether or not that reason is good is the question. Not hiding the fact that I was awake and curious I examined my surroundings carefully. It was like being inside a cardboard box made out of wood and moving. It's a wooden box pulled by horses, yeah. There were small windows on either side and behind me, covered by a small curtain. In front of me, instead of another wall, there was just a large curtain acting as a door. Since the windows were too small that would be the only way out. The floor was solid and flat with something like a couch cushion beside and against the back wall that we were both sitting on. Lastly, the cuffs. Staring at them longer I realized they can be picked relatively easily... If my hands were free... Sighing I cast my eyes on the character next to me. Similar to Manbun he too had a man bun, but he looked more regal. Like if Daggers had a man bun and only wanted to kill people a little bit less. I smiled at the strange interpretation of my surroundings before quickly reminding myself that I needed to get out of there. Almost like an answer to my prayers the carriage hit a pothole and jolted violently. This threw the regal daggers forward, and right when he caught himself I could see the shimmer of a key as it slipped away from him. As he began straightening his clothes trying to collect himself, the key slipped onto the floor just in front my me.  Masking my fall with another jolt of the carriage, I fell right on top of the key. Finally securing it with my still cuff hands and semi-tucking it into my sleeves, I rolled back onto the cushion.

I had wanted to check outside before my daring escape but knowing that would attract unwanted attention I opted out of that plan. Although they didn't kill me when they could have earlier that didn't mean they would be as merciful this time around. Leaning back onto the cousin I rolled onto my side away from Regal pretending to be trying to sleep. Waiting for a moment to see if it had worked I slipped the key out and began trying to get it into the lock. Finally lodging it in all that was left was to turn it. Before turning it all the way the carriage came to a sudden halt, causing the key to free itself without freeing me. I shot up either pretending to have just woken up or out of curiosity. Regal slipped out of the carriage and I could hear chattering outside. I leaned closer to the exit. Suddenly the curtain lifted and I was face to face with a new face in a guard get up. Shocked, I fell back hearing a loud sigh.

"We just had to find another one."

A/N

Thank you all for understanding why I didn't write Yesterday! Or if not thanks for not yelling at me. I really had no idea what I wanted to do in the story yesterday so I'm happy that I took a day off to recollect my thoughts in order to create a better story! ;)

Now I know that in the Author Note #1 I revealed that Charlie was, in fact, a girl. This is a done deal. Charlie is a girl. so sad. Being a girl I have a very hard time writing from a guys perspective in the first person so alot of what Charlie thinks about or does seems to be a bit too similar to how I think or act. Although her gender is revealed now one may still read the story as though Charlie was a guy because Charlie being a female really doesn't impact the story all too much. (which is why I really didn't care about gender too much in the first place)

WElp I gotta go to bed soon, see ya peeps tomorrow! :D
