"Well not... exactly," Silver-hair said with a strange expression on his face of concern and confusion. I let out a small laugh placing it back awkwardly but not before taking a closer look at it subtly, trying to not let them see me do so for some reason. It was all made from the same material bright metal but had a strange pattern carved on every exposed area. Memorizing the pattern to the best of my abilities without rising suspicion I replaced it and turned back to them. "Hi," I said awkwardly facing them. Silver the hedgehog, Minnie mouse, and Marc-for-death. Yay.

Minnie looked over at Marc raising an eyebrow before looking at Silver and looking away. Finally, she snapped back to face me. "Right! It's late," she said loudly, "I'll show you a place to sleep." as she turned around I could tell it wasn't just awkward planning, I couldn't be in the same room as the coming discussion for some reason and Minnie was trying to make me leave. Yeah right! I interrupted my crazed thoughts that were jumping around as though I had a caffeine buzz. Stiffening a yawn that I faked for some reason I nodded following after her.

***

A battlefield child, daughter of a commander who died in action... During the Broken War, Nobody would want you, the daughter of a known traitor... Who died

The voice, seeing me squirm, began to taunt me further. A sickening laugh echoed around me as I saw shadows lunge at me, keeping me from standing, running, hiding.

Why are you still alive? A worms life would be worth more...

I could never close my eyes. Never give them an opening like that. Once I did I knew I would be killed without a second thought. I could feel my eyes twitch as I tried desperately not to close them. The voice noticed the fear in my constant opened eyes.

Ohh, you needn't worry yourself so much, child. Afterall...

It paused as I felt a breath close to my face as it lowered its voice.

Why would I destroy such a fun toy?

I felt the memories flood back, flashing before me. Ablaze. I shut my eyes tight, desperately waiting to completely disappear from the world. My face was hot in response to the vivid hallucination of that day. I could feel the fire as I watched it all burn to ashes until the screams stopped. My mother's cries.

It's my fault. Everything is my fault.

I was suffocating in the darkness as my throat closed up. Hot tears welled up in my eyes.

Is it?

The voice came again.

"Who else could it be? I was there, I was born, they protected me and died." I choked on the last word.

Whose fault was that, child? Who made you this way?

It was just how the voice got in your head. You can't let it back in. Don't listen to it. Stop. No... Don't-

You already know...

I couldn't feel anything anymore. In an Empty way. Like I was nothing more than a doll. Empty. Emotionless.
